also a factor, i agree...tho' UK hasn't had open-door immigration to non-EU persons. Germany has. Open-door in this context means literally the borders are open and all are allowed in without checking of documents. Admittedly, this was arguably a necessary humanistic response to the mass migrant waves of 2015/16 (and partly still continuing today).
Ok mate fair point, maybe I should have said the mass migration from Europe which drastically changed the Demography of a large number of UK towns and cities. I dont think it is a coincidence that places like Wrexham which had race riots a few years back voted Conservative.

Rule Britannia
Lets take our borders back
We will put the Great back into Great Britain
British jobs for British people
Scottish fish for British people
And my personal favourite
I want my blue passport.
I am afraid Britain is going down a very dark and dangerous road and within 10 years the Scots and Irish will leave the union and the bigots and racists will have their day
It was a good result for nationalism all round. Not just in Scotland and Ireland but in England as well, as the Tories are now effectively the English National Party.

The champagne may taste sweet for them today but their victory will ring hollow when the realities of Brexit kick in over the coming few years and they see their beloved UK disintegrate. They wanted this result to 'put an end' to the Brexit issue but this is only the beginning..

That migration hasn't been from Europe. That link you post refers to arabic asylum seekers.

Because every election has been won by a centre ground or centre-right party.

He himself is right wing - what a shocker. Doesn't mean he influences anything - just means he's automatically on the winning side.

But he certainly does. We can argue how much people are influenced are how it directly correlates to votes until we are blue in the face but to deny the likes of The Sun has no influence is extremely naïve.

''THE Sun has been confirmed as the most popular newspaper website in the country for the fifth month in a row — beating the Mail Online and the Mirror Online.

Figures from the industry’s digital data bible Comscore show a massive 35.9million Brits enjoyed our content across our websites and apps in October, up ten per cent on last month.''

''THE Sun is officially the most read newspaper and website in the country — according to a new governing body. A definitive survey shows 33.3million adults now read The Sun every month.''

Again we can debate just how much it influences but critical thinking skills are often left behind when flashy headlines are thrown about.

Are we really trying to paint a narrative of the gutter press having no influence after what people from our very own city have been labelled over the years?

The state of that. Who on earth buys such trash?

People think they're not unduly influenced by the media, but, at least to some extent, if you're at all open to the message some media outlet is pushing, subconciously, it'll influence you.

Having said that, you're also much more likely to consume media output from a source you already agree with, so it's influence in this election is probably being overstated

Just trying to make the point that places like Wrexham which has been a Labour stronghold for donkeys years suddenly votes Conservative when leaving Europe is on the agenda, and is probably the same reason why all those constituencies further North did the same.
Leaving Europe meant more to them than party loyalty.
