For context, one member of the government told me this morning they knew of 5 senior ministers publicly backing her and planning to knife her in private

Why do remainers always bring up the bus issue? The remain campaigned lied even worse!!! They used fear. Emergency budget etc ... Never happened.

Yes I would go with option 3 as it stands although I believe a better deal is available as the no deal option is even scarry for the EU.

This country will survive and did before. Trade will continue and most of the bluff about big business leaving the UK won't happen
We haven't had an emergency budget because we haven't left yet!

I don't doubt the country will survive, and the big business bit isn't bluff.

Most of the major banks already have plans to relocate to Frankfurt
One of the only industries we have left is the motor manufacturing industry. Look up where Nissan parts are made. They are made all over Europe and then shipped seamlessly to Sunderland to be assembled in the most efficient car plant in the world. What do you think will happen when they can't import the parts anywhere near as quickly due to trade barriers? They will shut the plant and move to Spain or Poland or elsewhere in Eastern Europe.

None of that is bluff. We are condemning ourselves to at least a decade of pain. I'm not saying we can't do it, we've done it before, but let nobody believe it will be easy, because it damn well won't.

Ha imagine if 200 odd MPs come out in public supporting her and she loses that vote tonight.

The Tories will have a hell of a job explaining that one to the public!

That's like getting to the cup final against Plymouth Argyle and only losing on a penalty shootout. FFS even I voted Labour at the last election after 25 years of voting Liberal.
It's a clear merker down that shows immense progress.

Forget the up and down polls; a new election produces only one outcome: a LP win. The country are sick of this Tory chimpanzee tea party.

Any reason why @peteblue isn't posting lately?

He definitely said that he opposes the backstop because there is a possibility it could create a border in the Irish Sea at some time in the future and mentioned that the DUP had been let down in the same sentence.

If that is not backing their position then I don't know what is.

That’s a statement of fact though, given that the backstop (and subsequent trade deal FWIW) could lead to that coming about.

That wasn't said though. Osbourne and may said as soon as the vote finished and if we voted to leave they would be an emergency budget the next day.

That was a lie

Except that all it does is take time away considering that Brexit is supposed to take place in 3 months. When would a General Election take place in that time span? Let’s not forget either that Corbyns plan is to go back to the negotiating table with the EU and to ask for a deal he outlined last week which is completely preposterous and would be turned down (as it completely mirrored the Brexit dream)

There’s no need at all for a general election. Mays compromise deal needs to be reject, a50 needs to be extended and we need to actually figure out, now having seen what out looks like, if we want to carry on. It doesn’t require a general election, it requires MPs from all sides working towards a common goal rather than cheap point scoring and personal status enchantment.

Of course it does.

Leaving this Government to deal with this mess is a doomed endeavour; they are actively trying to circumvent Parliament so it’s daft to say all we need is for them to see their deal rejected and for Parliament to somehow extend A50 against the PMs will and come up with a better deal.

The problem is this Government, it has to be removed or none of the issues can be fixed. A new Government with a new mandate would be able to.
