Of course it does.

Leaving this Government to deal with this mess is a doomed endeavour; they are actively trying to circumvent Parliament so it’s daft to say all we need is for them to see their deal rejected and for Parliament to somehow extend A50 against the PMs will and come up with a better deal.

The problem is this Government, it has to be removed or none of the issues can be fixed. A new Government with a new mandate would be able to.
But what would they have a mandate for? Say we have an election and Labour win. Then they go back to the EU, who just offer them exactly the same deal. Where does that get us?

It depends on what Labour put in their manifesto.

For example, if they had “we would have implemented Brexit, but the Tories wasted two years, so we reluctantly will remain” in there and then won a GE they’d be entirely right to rescind article 50.

Who cares if you are not a Tory, makes no difference who is Tory leader and PM, they will have the same problem with Brexit and Parliament and its their own making.lol:dance:

Indeed, but that isn't their policy. Their policy is "the Tories haven't met our conditions so we would go back to the EU". They need to grow a pair, either choose no deal Brexit or remain and then stand on that, at least that would then give the voters a choice, they could choose Brexit with the Tories or remain with the Labour Party/Liberals/SNP.

Why would they choose no deal?

Labour policy on this area is clear; they want to respect the result and leave with a relationship that is as good as being in the SM/CU.

If that isn’t possible because the current Government have wasted all the negotiating time and there is a GE, it will probably change.

Well of course it isn't possible. They don't really want that, it's what you say when you don't want to do something, but don't have the guts to say it. Like Gordon Brown saying we'd join the Euro when his 6 "tests" had been passed, or the 3 witches telling Macbeth he'd be fine until Birnham Wood came to Dunsinane. Oh, scratch that, that one actually came true!!

Of course it’s possible; the EU said as much when it told May she could have it as well if she accepted the four freedoms.

Ok so providing we accept the 4 freedoms, the 1 main reason people voted to leave the EU, we can have a deal that reflects the terms we currently have. So we can have all the things we currently have, but no more, whilst having no voting rights.

Can you see the flaw in this?

So she's going to get the backing of MPs because she's promising to stand down after Brexit.

Great plan that Treez. That should give you more credibility. :coffee:

What you’ve said yes, which is why when Umunna, Kinnock and the rest of those Labour now advocating for a people’s vote went around advocating for that instead I said it was a daft idea.

Though Labours policy is to have a deal as good as SM/CU membership, not to just be in the SM/CU.

May has been restoring the whip to an MP who had been suspended, according to the BBC just so he can vote for her.

edit: the MP in question being Andrew Griffiths, who sent nearly (correction) 2000 sex texts to two constituents of his.
