The appalling communication skills of Everton FC

Show me a PL club that does what you want, Everton aren't alone in this........very easy to blame the board for everything when everyone are impatient. I honestly believe they will tell us something when they have something to tell us.
No wonder they treat fans like rubbish.

I'm not trying to side with the board here, but maybe they just don't know. I think Unsworth needs to be given a proper shot. Even if we don't eventually proceed with him, he can continue to be a massive asset to the club with the U23s, so we need to afford him the space to implement his ideas. If we're actively sounding out other managers without a clearer picture, we risk alienating them and maybe even Unsworth.
Then they should have stated after Koeman was sacked: "David Unsworth will take over first team affairs for the rest of the season".

If it went wrong early on into Unsworth's time as caretaker they had the room to act.

They've fumbled this. The managerial situation is now a farce.

Tell me it's not?

It's impressive how bad it is considering we have a Director of Marketing and Communications (Richard Kenyon) and a Head of Media and Communications (Brian Doogan), both are as useless as each other.
Have they ever been seen?

Is it really that big a deal that the club haven't released anything publically? I'm happy as long as things within the club are moving along and that things are at least being communicated internally.. that's all that really matters.

There is a lack of clarity around who makes decisions and a lack of discipline when it comes to how things are communicated.

I don't actually have an issue with the club not communicating on a new manager until a decision has been made, if the above was the case.

Have to agree @davek in this modern age communication is key. On the flip side though I hope they don't just spout rubbish for the sake of it like talk sport in the mornings with Jim the in the know White.

It's more to do with the nature of Koeman's departure. I expected his eventual decline to be much like his reign, glacial and unenthusiastic, a gradual dip in results as he got even more bored than he was getting the job. As it happened, he went down in flames and brought us into the relegation zone. I didn't rate the lad, but I thought he was functional enough to be able to steer away from such a scenario and I imagine the board did too. We didn't have a shortlist because that run was relatively sudden in footballing terms. The worst thing we could do now is throw a contract at any manager, we have to get this appointment right. We need a Pochettino type, a sleeper with a very clear vision and the strength to impose it. They're a rare breed so I wouldn't expect clarity on it at this stage if it was being done right.

It can be done right and they can take their time doing it. Not a problem with that. But they've allowed us to fall between two stools here: they have placed Unsworth in charge on a match to match basis and indicate they are looking for his replacement.

That is terrible planning AND atrocious communications.

There are no hiding places for them on this matter...and neither is there one with the continued lack of presentation of the stadium "vision" document they promised three months back.

it's more a case of, everything seem to be on a hold.

The lack of comunication between the people in charge, has been alarming, since we all witnessed Koeman taking a holliday, in the crusiual state of the transfer window.

This trend seem to continue, and it's not Koeman this time. Soo right now, not only does the club have intern problems, but also problems towards their fans, for not taking us serious.

And by not taking us serious, i mean, to make it appear like, the board is still there, and not gone playing golf

The communication of overall strategy is an ongoing disgrace at this club. We see it on display now with the managerial situation. It's been a disgrace for years and its got no better under Moshiri. The club seem to think it ticks a box by meeting up with a hand picked group of poodles called The Everton Forum and the small shareholders association every blue moon.

What has gotten worse under this new ownership regime, though, is their use of intermediaries who have little or no direct relationship with the club to dose out bits of message for them:

The stadium: the communication we "rely" on for that are an American stadium designer who may or may not get the job of designing a new stadium should it ever happen, and from a local mayor who appears just to like the sound of his own voice. The promised key principles document of a few months back? It's delayed for what reason? We dont know...they wont tell us. They wont tell us because they see no value in telling us. It just adds complication for them, so they keep us in the dark. Then they and their dwindling band of supporters wonder why many of us are sceptical about the whole project.

Now we have the managerial situation: an utter shambles from a PR point of view. The last thing we heard on the subject was a message handed to us via SSN stating basically "dont hold your breath on an announcement". Nothing from Everton. We, three weeks to the day that Koeman was sacked, have been given no further information. We're presently just shy of a relegation place and knocked out of two cups already with European qualification for next season pretty much beyond us, and we dont even know if the man they slotted in for four games is taking us on or whether a new manager is under consideration.

I doubt there's any other club that would treat its fans this way. It's a disgrace of an organisation at the top - an utter midden of a club for communication.
I'm surprised and appalled that you're appalled and surprised

You'd hope, at least behind closed doors, the players know Unsworth has got until say January at the very least.
