I said it at the start, if you had to pick worst options for this season considering the moment we are in as a club with new owners/stability off pitch/new stadium

They would be first the likes of Dyche or other equivalents

And second Moyes

The first would drive everybody crazy and the second would immediately split the fan base into pro/anti/tolerant with those tolerant of his appointment not taking too long to flip to anti given they have seen all this before

It simply wasn't the best option for the fan base when we all want a new start and something to really get behind. Even if you like him you would have to be blind to think David Moyes was a good option for us all to rally around stepping into a new era

We started out with all these arguments as the default setting for where we are right now. If you signed up fully for Moyes for me you are signing up fully for all of this

Whilst that's possibly true, a realistic chance at two trophies in two years is something I haven't felt at Everton since I was a child. There really is nothing like the feeling of winning something. I was far more elated when we won the fa cup than I was when we qualified for the preliminary rounds of the champions league, for example. We have a whole generation of fans that has never seen us lift a trophy. It's a tragedy for a club of our stature. I just want to win something, and I don't see it happening under Moyes. His one pot in 25 years of management (most of it top flight) doesn't fill me full of optimism.
I'm not referring to our situation, i'm just saying if there is any truth behind this than he is just moving sideways when he could be walking out in Europe with the squad he's done the work on.

It's more likely a thrown out rumour to kick this place off into a frenzy.

Explain why?
I voted No
He’s done a good job since coming in, steadied the ship massively and got us challenging for Europe, from where we have been in recent seasons. This is the first season we have consistently been away from relegation for the whole season and challenged for Europe. He’s doing a sound job for now. No need to keep changing managers when we don’t need to, had enough of those days.

The regression is a worry as we are getting worse rather than improving. 3 games could change it but if the current trend continues we will be bottom half again next season. ☹️

Moyes
24/25 H2 19 games 31 points ppg 1.63
25/26 H1 19 games 28 points ppg 1.47
25/26 H2 16 games 20 points ppg 1.25
Nearly 4 ppg average drop is significant if those stats are true. Maybe his breath of fresh air approach is starting to stale.

Little bit gutted as well if Iraola goes to Palace. We seem to be the only club that likes to constantly recruit ‘solid’ managers.

An Everton team under Moyes will look like this

4231 - every game with only a minor variation to 4141 on occasion (wish he’d do it more). This turns into a 442 mid block defence.

We’ll have a slow tricky inverted winger on the left side who’ll look to spring the left back into space as our plan A attacking option.

The right back will be a defensive minded player who will move over into a back 3 when the left back goes forward.

The striker will make runs across the oppositions backline to drag centre backs out of position to allow for the number 10 to arrive into the box in space for cutbacks or crosses from the left back

If we get some really good players in those positions then we could challenge top 6, if not we’ll be safely in mid table.

Set pieces will average out over a season with us weirdly conceding more than we should at really annoying critical moments and not scoring as many as we should given the height we have.

We’ll still struggle to take effective throw ins, kick offs, and goal kicks

The key for me though is we will never ever see under Moyes the approach to a team that we are seeing the best sides in Europe adopt.

Pace and power in every position, three pacey forwards who can stretch play and change positions. Teams that pose a threat with the ball and on the counter. Teams that can play a high press.

Moyes will look to perfect the shuffling mid-low block which can dominate possession against lesser teams, but is always vulnerable to being completely trampled by the pace and power of top teams.

There’s a limit to that type of football and we saw it between 07-10. It’s some of the best we’ve had in the prem but fundamentally it doesn’t win anything because at some point your one paced midfield schemers like Osman Arteta Pienaar, Grealish Ndiaye KDH, run into an absolute machine like Lampard Essien Ballack, Alonso Gerrard Mascherano, Rice Odegaard Eze, with pace in all positions and the usual pattern then starts to occur. We can’t get the ball back, we worry about getting exposed behind, we start to drop deeper and deeper ceding territory, they grow in confidence and before you know it we’ve just been edged out once again.

Plucky little Everton there’s always next time though.
