The 2 years since Martinez left.

He developed Stones and Lukaku to the tune of 125-150mil worth of transfer fees...

What cash did he have to build a team? Do you think Pep could have built a team with no money and that squad--he already said last week he needs money to build sides...
Lukaku is the same player he was when he joined us. He's not matured or developed one tiny bit. All his faults and attributes are exacally the same as when he was playing for West Brom before us. Martinez derserves zero credit for how Lukaku has turned out.

Same with Stones, the quality was already there. He's the same player he was when he joined us. Just more mature as a player.

I wasnt demanding he take us to the "next level" or anything. But going backwards and making us worse them we were under his predecessor who had even less money yet didn't embarrass us every week by chatting wham every week after we got snotted is inexcusable.

Because they were at least being signed with a plan in mind.
Under Koeman and Allardyce it's been "just sign as much quality as possible".
Look at poor old Cenk Tosun. A really capable, technical footballer who is being asked to just aimlessly leg it round the pitch as the ball does its best kite impression.
Walcott- how many times are we isolating the LB and allowing him to run at him with his pace? Hardly ever. So what was the point in buying him?
The current lack of style and identity is something the club needs to sort out and hopefully a better manager and DoF will correct that but come on, just because Martinez had a plan doesn't mean he would have spend the money better. By your logic should we hire Tony Pulis and give him 200m so he can sign 6ft 8 thugs to punt the ball too all game and that'd be fine it's a plan.

absolutely... they were standard so why is there this notion that had he the backing Koeman/Allardyce has had he would have done much bettter.

I would like to think that if he had a bit of money he could have got some players who were better on the ball instead of a bunch of cloggers but who knows?

No, what I'm saying is that if Martinez was handed 200mil+ to spend on the team he would have done a better job than Koeman. Cant really compare to Allardyce...

In Martinez' 3rd season Baines was poor...a lot of people agreed with Oviedo starting ahead of him and that's when Baines went crying to the media.

Can't disagree there. Koeman was a shambles this season, an actual disgrace the way he's taken us backwards with the finances available to him.

possibly. Lord knows what Moyes 2007-2009 when his team was at it's peak could have achieved with a third of that budget but as you said to me a moment ago it's all pure guess work.
Just to clarify i'm not suggesting Koeman/Allardyce are better than Martinez or anything like that. All 3 are failures and i'd like nothing more than the new Manager coming in and show them up for the failures they were.

Spent millions, went from 11th to 7th.

Now in 9th - still better than the 2 failed Martinez seasons. Why would you want him back?
This. People have short memories. Has everyone forgotten how toxic goodison became towards the end of bobby's reign?

I would say it was worse than it is now under our current regime (Mostly because we're all fairly sure it won't be the regime at the start of next season).

If those players were effective at the plan and we finished in the top 4- yeah why not? wouldn't be my cup of tea style wise but results win prizes.

Give Martinez 200m and he would have brought in 2 top balls CBs I would imagine, a top keeper and a playmaker.

Do you think that would have been worse than what was spent and on whom after he left?

We were becoming Wigan. They had to sacked him prior to that last home match to save him the abuse he'd have recieved. It's a shame because he was charming, he bought into the club and even now when he talks about us you see how proud he was to be Everton manager.

Martinez signed the tallest player in the clubs history...

You said I was championing Martina and Bolasie. Saying Cuco can cross a ball and saying Bolasie is ok a year ago, that is classed as ‘championing’ according to you. Zat you really are shameless.

You are championing Martinez you are just clueless and laughable. And playing all these kids will solve everything. Stop playing FM.

But Cuco can't cross a ball and Bolasie has been rubbish his entire career.

I hate Martinez, but Martinez > Koeman with hindsight. That says everything about how bad Koeman is, because Martinez is a clueless chancer.

Yeah who knows. Though I would be worried we would end up with more Per Kroldrups (funnily enough he would have been ideal in a Martinez team..) or James Beatties.

Football management relies on a lot of luck and timing as well.

there are very few guarantees in football.... other than us not beating the RS that is.

I hate Martinez a lot more because he was given enough time (2 full seasons) to do the damage <2 bottom half finish, 29.33% winning rate in the last 2 seasons, worst ever home record in one season> while Moshiri fired Koeman 7 games into his second season so even with hindsight Martinez is the worst of the bunch for me (bfs, moonhead and the fraud). I think bfs will leave soon so like Koeman, he would not be given time to cause further damage.

Martinez was generally poor in the transfer market, i’ll base my opinions on that rather than who you imagine he might sign.

We weren’t even in for Lukaku btw - he was offered to us on deadline day.
