Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

No to Iraola, can’t shake that low win % everywhere he’s been. We also have zero pace in the team and seem incapable of buying quick players so not sure we’d ever give him what he wanted.

If TFGa rent going to extend Moyes I’d try for Pochettino Mourinho Glasner or Fabregas in the summer.

Can anyone remember the last time we offered anyone patience?
It's a great question 😂

I think the club got the comms all wrong for this season. Needed to get as many people as possible to buy into the long term project, trust the process, etc. Instead you had Moyes talking up Europe at the start of the season which was insane. I don't buy the 'Evertonians expect the best' schtick - if you can do that at Arsenal then you can do that here

Patterson was binned by Dyche.
Aznou has been working back to fitness.

We've been changing the mindset and playing style for 13 years or more.

Dyche did a good job in very challenging circumstances when the pigeons came home to roost re failed recruitment previous. We don't sell shirts in cambodia, tuvalu, and the faroes. We can't absorb mega losses like gbamin, schneiderlin, bolasie and iceland and just double down and go again. The financial crocodiles wanted our ass and nearly got it. Again for the record, we saw £60M of talent walk last summer. So we spent £110M and got two loans in. So what. We couldn't get free transfers in. We massively overpaid for barry just to get him over the line. We were over a barrel, and that is why KDH, Grealish and keeping Ndiaye is strength to the Moyes argument.

I want, I want, I want.

The support has to learn, can want all you like, it never happens overnight. Ever.
Being binned by Dyche means nothing after seeing how he misjudged O'Brien so spectacularly. I agree about being patient and not expecting everything to be changed in one go especially as you say how close to the abyss we were. This season is now over with regards competing for anything tangible as we're too good to get sucked into a relegation battle but aren't good enough or brave enough to challenge for a European spot in the league. If a manager like Iraola of someone like Motta or another manager with good pedigree is interested I'd say its a good time now to make a change as there's no risk to the season and the new manager gets to work with the squad assessing who's good enough to stay and who needs discarding. I just wish as a football club we'd show more dynamism and be more ambitious instead of thinking that a Mr Steady is the best we can wish for

Iraola is interesting because he's shown that his tactics can work in England, albeit maybe not completely consistently. He would certainly fit what people are asking for though - plays entertaining football, develops young players.

I actually hadn't realised quite how mad Farioli's record is at Porto. 85% win percentage! Obviously pinch of salt managing Porto in that league but still bonkers.
Has a huge release fee that even Chelsea baulked at.

Iraola and Glasner look more possible than they did at the start of the season.
Motta
Inigo Perez
Farioli
Hoeness
Rose
Hutter
Italiano
McKenna

The manager market is very weird right now because there's not many absolute banker elite coaches (Ancelottis and Peps) available but there's absolutely loads of very interesting managers in the tier below that who'd largely be chomping at the bit to manage in the prem. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one that was a good fit.
Ancelotti has been here and got us to the heady heights of tenth. Guardiola has only ever managed teams with squads already overflowing with top talent. So in no way bankers anywhere outside a top six team. Anyone we could attract will be a risk given our poor squad. But anyone who could get this shower playing with intensity and commitment would be a plus.

Sorry yes to be clear - wasn't implying we should be looking at those elite managers, or that they'd be 'bankers' here. Just mean it's a slightly weird managerial landscape out there atm as that traditional elite bracket is a bit depleted atm, but there's loads of young hungry managers looking to make their mark.

It'll be difficult for anyone, the Prem requires athletic strong commited players in a balance squad...

If Ancelotti was interested you’d have to consider him. It fell apart second part of the season as the PS&R limitations probably became apparent to him in a January window when we were 2nd and brought in Josh King on loan.

If we gave him better players and a few years he’s probably the best bet of ending the trophy drought. He might not ‘build’ the club but I think the positives of winning something would outweigh another build phase for a future manager to try and win.
