The fire rises
At a quick glance, I'm seeing Henry, Van Nistlerooy, Ronaldo, Bent, Van Persie, Shearer. Maybe I've set the bar too high, or maybe it just shows how inconsistent strikers can be in their careers.
I bet if you compiled a list of strikers in the Premier League in the last 10 years to have scored 15+ goals in more than one season, it wouldn't be the longest. We're not great with strikers, but only a few teams actually are.
It doesn't have to be 15 goals a season to be a success though.
Like i said earlier, how come he has numerous success stories of turning cheap and unknown defenders and midfielders into consistently good Premier League players, yet pretty much nothing when it comes to strikers?
And even those that do well for a bit always end up stinking?
IF we ever buy a quality Striker, than maybe we can judge.
In other words:
56 players have scored 15 or more per season in the last 10 seasons. Only 1 of those was from an Everton player (Yak barely scraping in with 15 during 07/08).
Yeah for sure, perhaps 15 is a bit of a high mark to aim for in todays football
Ha, nailed it.
1. We play one up front and it is actually one up front
2. Being a good striker is hard in any formation
3. Good strikers cost lots of money and we don't have any money
4. Moyes isn't the best at attacking play in general
5. Do a trivia question Artetafan
It's not high. If we only get 1 out of 56 players managing 15 goals or more then something is wrong. We're a constant top 8 side, we should have at least 5 entries in that list.
Looking at the stats, it happens to loads of other teams too, as of those 56 players, only a handful do it in consecutive seasons.
With one of the strikers roaming out wide/outside the box. That's 4-2-2 only on paper.1. sometimes we play 4-4-2
2. only as hard as being a good midfielder, defender or goalie
3. we've spent 33m on 4 strikers...money is not the issue
4. agreed
5. good idea
