Strikers under Moyes

Jelavic looked really out of touch with his teammates for the first time yesterday. Exchanging words with Osman and Pienaar over passes he felt should come his way.

Did he get a backheader on that corner that came in and just whistled past the post 2nd half (lot of pushing in the box beforehand) or was that Jagielka? If it was Jel;avic it was his only decent contribution.

Think it was the wobbly headed Baresi.

Precisely. Cahill was a grafter and a goal scorer, loads of boss strikers get labelled as lazy or disinterested but still score.


Prime example is berbatov, what I mean is because Cahill set an example of how he responded to Moyes and his retraining, Moyes has persisted with that technique with other strikers and its begun to 'dumb' them down, you are exactly right

Strikers are natural and ( for me) can't be trained.

We'll, for us, all we need is a player that scores. Everyone else does the leg work.

But for some reason, that's not enough for Moyes. Moyes wants a tevez or rooney type player. He'll never get one of them.

Yakubu was awesome in his first season. Stood in the box, slotted. Brought the midfield into play. He did the same at Blackburn

We need someone like that. Not someone who has to suffer to allow the attacking midfielder more freedom

TBF, is there many strikers in today's game who are allowed to just roam across the line of defence waiting for a through ball or one knocked over the top...is that reasonably the extent of their duties? (And even judging him on that type of effort he falls down badly this season - the number of times he's been caught offside playing off the last defender is criminal). He's also had the task of 'bringing midfielders into play' lessened when playing with Victor, but still no joy.

I think the analysis is exhausted when looking at factors around Jelavic impacting upon him - tactics, formations, partnerships. After weighing up a **** load of evidence, you have to say that the feller alone has to carry the burden of responsibility for a dog of a season.
