St George's Day this Friday

Have the same legend of the dragon but apparently where the dragon's blood fell, a rose grew. Unesco declared the day 'international book day' in 1996. The tradition in Catalonia is for the men to give a rose to their lady friends who in turn give a book to their 'chicos'.
I'll have some of that.

Personally not into flags. I agree with the Indian writer Arundhati Roy on the use of flags...

Used to shrink wrap the brains of the living and to shroud the dead.

Happy for anyone to celebrate their Englishness if they want.

I only celebrate St.Doddy Day on July 11th. St Doddy the Patron Saint of Liverpool and Knotty Ash's finest citizen

We're not English, we are Scouse

Is any English forum member going to actually celebrate this or arsed about it for that matter?

I mention it because I hear that Liverpool City Council are 'bowing to pressure' to throw Cross of St George flags up on County Road, West Derby Road, Walton Lane, Heyworth Street etc in the north end. Who in the name of all that's holy would want the council tipping up for this when the money could be used on something useful and when there's never seemed to be a big momentum behind this event in the past?

I'm hoping to toast St George on the plane home on Friday but I'm not counting any chickens yet.

I cheated a little, I thought it looked like the Ecuadar flag so I googled that first, so lets say I got it on my 4th guess and call it quits.

I used to be superb on Capitals, Currency and Flags, now not so hot.
