St George's Day this Friday

Is any English forum member going to actually celebrate this or arsed about it for that matter?

I mention it because I hear that Liverpool City Council are 'bowing to pressure' to throw Cross of St George flags up on County Road, West Derby Road, Walton Lane, Heyworth Street etc in the north end. Who in the name of all that's holy would want the council tipping up for this when the money could be used on something useful and when there's never seemed to be a big momentum behind this event in the past?

kids went to a st.georges day caravan thing at the weekend, they do a proms and shiz, I'm not sure how we are supposed to celebrate it tbh, we used to have a church parade in the boys brigade as a kid but thats all I recall, apart from on the day we would go to school in our various uniforms i.e. boys brigade, scouts, girl guides. We never slayed any ceremonial dragons or anything though...... the triads and the snakeheads would've had us ffs.

Anyway, I was listening to the radio today and it started up straight off the bat: someone phoning the Roger Philips show to wish everyone an imminent Happy St Georges's Day and congratulating the councl on their plans...then started going on about how Sharia Law would stop it happening. Amazing.

If someone in the EDL or BNP had of dismissed an ethnic minorities beliefs or cultural traditions then you'd have been the first having a screaming fit about it.

But its ok for you to imply that someone who's English and through some sort of misguided left-wing ideology, anyone celebrating St George's Day is "nazinationalist" is a complete and utter disgrace.

Thats why I take anything you have to say on politics with a pinch of salt. No credibility or substance or morality. Just like your political party.
