Squad - what squad?!!

A lot of you seem to forget that for close on 3 years Moyes was unable to make any significant signings due to our awfully administrated finances, despite a number of players being sold. As soon as he was given a small amount of leeway we acquired Jelavic, Gibson, Naismith and re-signed Pienaar. Not a bad job of enhancing a squad that was in desperate need of fresh blood, In fact a total transformation. You can only work within the scope you are allowed. He's performed fantastically well .... Again !

Probably the most succinct, accurate post on why people get racked off with Moyes.

Well done sir, I hope you don't mind if I nick your "time rich" phrase and use it, it's absolutely fundamental to answering all the excuses - brilliant piece.

People ****ging Moyes off for the 5 man midfield is nonsense. It was generally a very attacking 5 man midfield and now look at how many teams play a similar formation? My only issue was when he shoved Neville in to play with Fellaini or Heitinga but I think thats probably a question mark on his confidence on Rodwell to handle premiershipship games. Im talking ****e. Its too hot

The problem with the 5 man midfield isn't that it's a bad formation it's that Moyes always picks it. Right now, it's the right formation, four years ago it was the right formation.

The year before last when Cahill was bang out of form and neither Saha nor Beckford could cope with the lone strikers role but looked good when playing together? It wasn't the right call.

I do agree that with Saha/Beckford the lone role didnt suit them but I dont think they would have played well together either. Whose going to do all the legwork there?

I thought it could have done with a run out given the alternative wasn't working. The only time we tried it was the second half against blackpool where we literally couldn't stop scoring.

Maybe it wouldn't have worked against a team that actually try to defend but it was worth a try.

It's alright not changing a winning team but Moyes doesn't change a losing team either.

Thats fair enough. His fear of making a substitution is pretty annoying. Fingers crossed though that now he has a decent midfield partnership in Gibson and Fellaini and potentially a good forward partnership with Jelavic and deeper positioned Naismith it could be a decent 5 man attacking midfield rather than the make do and mend Neville/Heitinga midfield

Lets hope, mate.

Moyes will be a tit and try to partner Gibson and Rodwell while pushing Fellaini up. We will be so creatively lacking in the centre of the pitch it makes me sick.

I would like to see Rodwell given the role of being able to run at the opposition with the more disciplined, dynamic duo of Gibson and Fellaini behind him but Im not sure he's all that. He reminds me of one of those school yard players whose all tricks and flicks but cant play the game

He throws his weight around with journalists and with players and with fans, and yet he keeps sucking Kenwright's cock. Supporting Moyes is supporting the board.

I've liked a lot of the things you post, don't agree with a lot of it in this thread but the above in particular is a stupid attempt at.. well I don't even know what.
Supporting Moyes is supporting the board?? Really?
No.. supporting the manager is supporting the manager, supporting the board is supporting the board, the two are not as intrinsicly linked as you seem to think and are two very different entities. I don't hear too many singing the praises of the baord for getting 4th spot back along for example.
Any new manager would also tow the line as its their job! If they don't, they deserve to be sacked. His job is not to influence the board into getting more funds, its to do his job with the funds given. His job is not to slate the owners of the club or make demands on the board, his job is to acheive the targets the board set, something he has done well.
I cannot believe that people genuiinely believe Moyes is the problem for not joining the 'I hate Kenwright' crusade.

Be my guest. (y)

Rodwell, as I think Toxteth Blue once rightly pointed out, is a player that can link defence and midfield with his eyes shut. He's that type of player who carries the ball well in sometimes dangerous areas and lays it off. He's not, imo, a tip of the midfield diamond type player. He scored a cracking goal against United once and that seems to have seduced many into believing surging forward runs like that are his game.

He certainly has the technique for the Pirlo role, but the brain? Nah, and thats taking into account his lack of games. He doesnt look up and see whats going on around him.

You feel the board of directors had a hand in getting Everton 4th spot back in 2005?
