Squad - what squad?!!

A club like Everton SHOULD be challenging top 4 every season, but now, in this league, that takes a lot of money. Money which will never get injected into the playing staff until the current board move on. Moyes does have his downfalls admittedly but most seem to be blaming him for a lot more than he should be blamed for. A manager is only able to work with what he has got, and with what Moyes has had he has done a good job with IMO. Think slating him about his wage is way over the line as well, ridiculous thing to beat him with.

Not really when not even 6 months ago he was encouraging everyone in football to take a 20% wage cut. I wonder if when talking about a new contract he will take a cut or not? If he doesn't he is bang out of order.

I think if moyes wasn't on such a big wage you could assume that he was a loyal servant doing his best for the club and not demanding money for transfers to help out the club financially and not leaving because he thought he owed us service. But the fact he demands money for himself but not for the squad damns him slightly.

Good manager, decent man but not an evertonian.

Wow, you people really hate him.

I would hate to be that bitter about an Everton Manager.

Not at all mate, he is a fine manager. I will lose all respect for him if he gets a pay-rise in his next contract though after telling everyone in football to cut 20% of their wage to help fans.

And I wish he would put more pressure on this board, he did it a little when all this Spurs manager job thing came up, but he really should do more if he truly has ambition and doesn't settle for second best.

People are just saying that he ought to practice what he preaches. Unity of action and mind like. How much respect will he still have from fans and players IF he's a hypocrite here ?
This is logical and neutral. Not 'bitter'/'hate' mate :)

At the end of the day, this discussion will re-occur this time next season, and the next, and the next, and the next, and the next; until something changes, whether that be the board's attitude, the manager or the finance.

As it stands, realistically we are in no position to succeed, and the way the Premier League is going, it's impossible to squeeze your way into the European spots and use that funding to fuel Moyes.

I don't hate him. He's done a very good job here and gave me some great moments and when he leaves, I'll look back on him in the same way I will Cahill or Hibbert, as a fantastic servant who gave us some great moments.

And I admire him as a man, I think he's a decent sort but his 'my way or the high way' approach to the players and the fans while not challenging the board doesn't speak well about him.

I just think I'd think much more positively about him, in hindsight, when he isn't still here being paid more than the manager of borussia dortmund and playing Phil Neville in mdifield rather than Barkley or Rodwell.

You know he will get a pay rise mate, its called inflation.

Your asking him to do something that nobody else will, its a job, hes gotta look out for himself.

I mean if you heard your boss had spent 3m at Casinos in the last year, would you take a pay cut?

Righto. Stoke, Birmingham, the RS, Newcastle and Fulham have played in Europe either this year or last.
