I don't believe that to be the case. Don Garber can say whatever he wants to reporters, but LD has earned the right to move if he wants to. Especially if the Galaxy win the MLS Cup this year. He will have literally nothing left to prove in the States.

However, everything since World Cup suggests that the MLS want him as their poster boy, he's an American hero now, and it's their prerogative to sell. Don't you think Donovan would've accepted the trade to Everton when Moyes made an offer in August if he'd been able? MLS rejected it. They aren't going to let him go permanently.

I will be more than happy to eat my words in January if he gets a permanent trade, but I don't think I'll have to.
