Sir Landon Of Donovan

What the crap happened in 24 hours? Thank you the one radio interview Landon did. Sheesh!

And the stories begin! Agree with the pressure LD is again putting on MLS to let him go.

I worry a little bit about his fitness since Bruce continues to run him into the ground. When he comes on loan he better damn do well or else it will be just...awful. :( I'll be watching with baited breath. I want the Galaxy to win the playoffs, but LD needs at least 6 weeks rest, and that stupid Australia game cuts into that. Maybe they'll just take Becks?

And that Australia game is just days after the 11/21 MLS Cup (if LA make it there). Who the heck planned this thing? All the players are going to be *exhausted* by then.

Coleman + LD = squee!

P.S. Apparently Ronaldinho's people met with the Galaxy again (recently - as reported on MLS.com). Why they persist in this I dunno, but theoretically, they are planning for an LD replacement.

EDIT: According to Twitter, he's going down under. Shoot me. Hope he plays the last 2 minutes.

My own opinion regarding the Donovan situation leads me to believe he isn't all that interested in coming back to Everton. Yes, he may say he loves the club and the time he spent here (and rightly so) etc, but in honesty I think his time spent here was to see if he could cut the mustard with the big players before the World Cup. If you look at the fixtures which he got to play in from January to mid March Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham within 2 months and that was one of the main things which attracted him in my opinion. If he really wanted to stay he would have pushed LA Galaxy so they would have let him. He didn't and he always maintained that he wanted to go back to the US to see his team mates and go back to the better weather. I don't think we will see him here again unless we offer him a permanant deal. He will most likely want to go to Spain or Italy this time round. He strikes me as the kind of guy who likes to prove himself at every level and he did so at his time here, why would he come back after leaving so successfully? .....For me he won't come here in January

stop pissing on my chips man.

Well, you could be right regarding the weather. However, Donovan has placed a premium on being comfortable and being appreciated throughout his professional career. Everton provides him with that. The weather thing is part of being comfortable. It's just a matter of what he regards as being more important. I think he'll be really hesitant to jump into a Spanish side or Italy where he's never been before.

Disagree. Why would he be hesitant to jump into an Italian or Spanish side? He'd never played in England before and he was very successful. As I have said I think he likes to prove to himself that he mix with the best of them. He's done it in England! It's only my opinion but time will tell.

It will indeed .

So I can be quite confident that I will not look a plank (well no more than normal!) in my soon to be ordered Vanilla top with DONOVAN - 9 on the back :)

That's a good point, I didn't even consider that. But the way the Galaxy are playing they might get knocked out in the first round.

If Donovan lets a little thing like the weather get in his way of joining the Premiere League (either on loan or a permanent transfer), then he can go eff himself. It's such a minor thing and there are so many players who would kill for the chance to play there.

I remind you folks - Landon played at Everton back in January during what, the coldest winter in England in ages. And it didn't bother him a bit. People blow LD's comments about weather completely out of proportion. Just because he likes good weather - dont' we all - the weather does not play a major role in where he decides to play.

I think the only stumbling block will be that he wants a PERMANENT transfer, not just a loan. He's tired of loans. Loans wear you out. He would like someone (Everton) to just put the money down and buy him.
