That may be true but we went into this last season and getting away from the MLS is apparently not that easy. I am sure our American fans will confirm or clarify for you.

Getting away from the MLS is easy if you have enough cash, and if the player wants to leave.

If Everton will Pay about 7 million Pounds and LD says to MLS sell me for the most Cash in MLS history it will happen.

The weather issue probably isn't major, its just part of the reason he gave when he went back along with wanting to see his team mates. Let's look at the bigger picture though.... Has he ever came out and said 'I want a permanant move to everton'? Not so far. As I have previously pointed out the loan move last season was right for him he saw the opportunity to play all the best teams in england within the 2 months before the mls season re-started. For me he isn't in any rush to come back.

Admin better get the servers ready for the January rush... LD's loan/transfer will be all over the news in the USA now that he is a household name.

Cash,

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Everything that has happened in the past year tells me that he'd jump at the chance to play for Everton again. He was successful here as you said. That's all the reason to come back vs. taking a chance in Italy or Spain and potentially have a Leverkusen situation all over again.

Why risk that at this point in his career? Personally, I think he'd do just as well in those two countries as well but he knows from a commercial standpoint, that Everton is his best bet. From a playing time standpoint, Everton is his best bet. From a settling in standpoint, Everton is his best bet.

He has a national teammate here (as well as Holden up the road at Bolton), he got on great with the manager, and most importantly, he hit it off with the supporters here and understood EXACTLY what it meant to be an Evertonian. That has just as much pull as playing football in MLS or anywhere else to be honest.

I'd say he'd bite his own right hand off to come back to Everton on a permanent deal.

TX Bill is spot on. I believe Landon to be somewhat risk adverse, and more likely to desire a situation that proved to be great in all respects vs. blazing a new trail where an infinite amount of things may go wrong or just plain suck. Its either Everton or MLS. There are no third options for him.

What is the status with him and the wifey? You don't give a shout out to your separated other half in a post WC game interview without said half being a MAJOR part of what you do going forward. For all I know she can totally Yoko Ono this for us. I have heard nothing about their status in a long while. Anyone know what is up?

I've heard him say in interviews that his sometimes wife pretty much told him that if she were in his shoes she wouldn't be in America.

They are separated, not yet divorced, but not back together. It's not an issue anymore. He's coming back. He just needs a 4-6 week rest and he'll be ready to go.

You don't exactly come out and say that while your current team (LA) is trying to win the MLS title.

Ditto. He does want to respect his current league and not diss them.

And in almost all the interviews he's given it's been "Everton....Everton...and oh did I mention...Everton?" Has any other team (other than Man City, which I don't think Landon himself ever mentioned) been in the picture?

Even Landon's own league (the site's independent) got in on the action today: MLS.com poll - should Landon return to Everton?
80% YES, 20% No.

Popular opinion right now = Rooney's sale is LD's gain. (+any Yobo $$)

Did everyone just show up at once last time, or gradually out of curiousity?

From The Guardian today (Weds):

Another man who pines for a return to Merseyside is, apparently, Landon Donovan. And David Moyes is going to make it happen. Though Mark Hughes is determined to test the strength of Everton's appeal by flaunting the counter-attraction of fashionable Fulham and the opportunity to jam with USA team-mate Clint Dempsey.

Um, random much? Totally think someone made this up on their staff. Made sense....like months ago. Now? Why in the world would he go there?
