People are being naive if they don't think Hibbert's back up to Coleman, he's not been given a two year deal because Martinez thinks he's a good laugh and fancies his misses.

Is he good enough? Probably not, he's been average at best for a few years. Is he the back up to Coleman? Yes. Martinez rates him, handed him a new contract and clearly doesn't see right back as somewhere he needs to buy for. So we'd better get used to the idea that Hibbert will play his share of games this year.

Martinez rates Joel, Alcaraz and Kone. You can't assume he doesn't rate Hibbert. Supporters and managers don't always agree on players.

After some pretty bad injuries and a long injury lay off in 2013/2014 season

The Celta Vigo pre-season performance where his opponent scored a first half hatrick.

Where he looked well off the pace and no where near his man he is marking.

  • Is Hibbert the right choice for second choice right back?
  • If not who is?

If he hasnt played for a season as you've said, he is obviously going to be off the pace isnt he? That's the point of these pre-season matches, help with fitness and match practice.

Disappointed how much negativity Hibbert always seems to attract (not just this season). He is a solid full back, who lacks a little going forward. Personally I would rather have Hibbert than the England international Glen Johnson.

You think Hibbert is better than Johnson??! Hibbert has always been one of our weaker players. Now that our standard has improved and he's getting older and affected by injuries he stand out massively quality wise from the rest of the players at the club. Got nothing against him personally and I think his loyalty should be commended but he isn't good enough to play for us anymore IMO.

He was amazing in Football Manager 2011. Newcastle offered me 18m for him once!

Just thought I'd lighten the mood *gets coat*
