Probably a stupid question but can't we do with Rooney like we did with Donovan? Just a short term loan? Don't really see the harm in that honestly.
Why? Why would you want him back here? He didn’t score a goal for half a season and is now another year older!

He was toxic at this club. All about him.

Let Man Utd be his charity if he wants a loan during their off-season.

I don’t want him back in any way, not as a player or a coach.

For just this season, and jettisoned Tosun instead. We all know he's on the wane but stick him up front with orders to stay in and around the box and I reckon he could have been effective, especially with the service he would have got from Richarlison, Walcott and the Brazilian magician.
aaaaand, you're back in the room, feeling wide awake again.

He’s in exactly the right place. Some of the stuff he’s doing that’s looking wondrous in the MLS would just be embarassing in the prem. Hos track back tackle and assist for example. In the prem he doesn’t even catch the bloke and even if he did even Cardiff’s defence wouldn’t let a header go in from a 50 yard punt into the box.

No. I could score worldies in that league. He's been a quality player in the premier league but just isn't that level anymore. Seeing out his days being an important player for DC, fair play, he deserves it.

..not the worst shout but the reality is we’d have had 4 strikers (Rooney, DCL, Tosun and Niasse) none of whom totally fill the void. Saying that, Rooney might well be head of that queue.

Rooney would still be ahead of and outscoring DCL and niasse without a doubt .

That`s a forward line that any Championship club would love to have :

An ex world class striker, with lungs like the inside of a cooling tower chimney.

An athlete, who can`t score due to his pet caterpillar eye brows nesting on his face

A player who is decent, but lacks pace and needs constant service to score.

A player who doesn`t know what his own legs are doing most of the time.

lol

That’s lungs comment had me in stitches mate , thank you
