Why? Why would you want him back here? He didn’t score a goal for half a season and is now another year older!

He was toxic at this club. All about him.

Let Man Utd be his charity if he wants a loan during their off-season.

I don’t want him back in any way, not as a player or a coach.

It would be a decent idea if we were short in that position. Now that we have Sigurdsson, Bernard and Dowelled for an attacking midfielder / and enough up front, I don't see the point of calling him on loan. In Donovan we needed something different and that's why the loan worked at that time. His ego / position / his need for a leadership or captaincy role is also a bit awkward when we're building a new team, and a manager whom he doesn't really know.

It wouldn’t be decent even if we had little options there. He didn’t score a goal for 6 months!

Rooney will be remembered in 100 years from now as one of our greatest players, probably behind William Ralph, probably ahead of the Golden
Vision and the two Duncs, and certainly ahead of The Holy Trinity, individually. Big Dunc may surprise us all by becoming another famous Ferguson.
I think our worst fears are that Ross becomes a legend at Stamford Bridge, I hope he does, I hope you lot eat plenty of Humble Pie for helping to
force him out.

Not sure if joking......

He was genuinely toxic at the club, his wages unsettled other players, he kicked off when he didn’t play and he made out he was bigger than the club as a whole, without showing the talent to back any of that up. United jettisoned him for a reason remember.

The reality with Rooney was that he couldn’t play consistently as a Premier League level striker, number 10 or number 8, was sloppy in possession in a team that couldn’t afford to be and scored just 2 more goals in all competitions than Oumar Niasse did. He then proceeded to go half the season without scoring. Not to mention bringing the club into disrepute with his Jeremy Kyle level antics after a beer.

The blue tinted glasses and misplaced sense of loyalty to “blues” is everything that is wrong with the club and fan base in general and a fluke 50 yard goal against West Ham isn’t going to change the fact that he was a ludicrous signing for us.

Lol. Just no. His style of play effected the whole team in a negative way. I was firmly in the never wanted Rooney back camp. He was no longer a top player the the last 3 years at United.

It sent out a terrible message signing him back. Can you imagine if Gerrard had left Liverpool to go to Chelsea or United in his early twenties only for them to re-sign him in his thirties when he was clearly on the decline. It would never happen

I think the way he got caught out by that horrible honeytrap spoke volumes about where his head was at. We lost the Rooney that was young and hungry, all we got back was the last of the players infected by the ‘golden generation’ and their bulls**t egos.
I spent 10 years hoping one day he would come back but if he’d really been committed to helping the club he’d have come back before he was totally washed up. Looking back I think I’d have preferred it if he had stayed away.

Wasn't the young and hungry Wayne getting stuck into OAP brasses? Some girl in a bar is hardly a carefully orchestrated honeytrap - if he wants to go out, play around and drive while under the influence it's not the work of a devious female trying to ensnare him.

Probably a stupid question but can't we do with Rooney like we did with Donovan? Just a short term loan? Don't really see the harm in that honestly.
Why would we? Donovan wasnt a crap has-been when we loaned him, he was a star player. Rooney’s got nothing but a trollish body and fake hair to offer.

Just a figure of speech to add drama sorry! You’re right but all the more reason it showed where his head was at. Should have stuck with the older birds they’d have gone to bed earlier!

I wanted him back and thought he did OK. But we are moving on and he would not have been up to it. The US league fits him nicely......
