Its really quite simple...

FFP + STCC are the regulations. If we dont sign any more players we can only add £7mil a season (£135k a week) on the wage budget + any players who have left already, their wages add into the pot (Robles,Mangala, Henen).

The actual squad which we can register is comprised of 25 players. This includes a specific amount of 'home grown' players and does not include young players.

However...if we had several young players in the team then from a business perspective they should be included in the 25 (not filed but internally).

Marco has said he wants 2 players competing for every position...thats 20 players + 3 goalkeepers (add in a forward and a utility player for the 25).

I imagine that they are comprising a list of players who they want to see in the 25. Currently, i believe the list looks like this;

Pickford
Coleman -- Holgate -- ??? -- ???
Gana -- ???
Walcott -- Sigurdsson -- Lookman
Tosun

???
Kenny -- ??? -- ??? -- Baines/Robinson
Baningime -- Davies
Dowell -- Vlasic -- Onyekuru
Calvert-Lewin
Thats 17 players.

Pickford is our only decent keeper so we need at least 1 more.

Most likely, they would keep 1 or 2 of the central defenders. I believe the most likely 2 are Keane and Jagielka.

Probably a choice of Robinson or Baines at left back also but we may keep both on the books.

Midfield we need at least one central player and a wide forward if Onyekuru doesnt get a work permit.

In attack it makes sense to have a top quality forward or at least competition for Tosun

1 Goalkeeper
1 Centre back + 1 Left back needed.
1 Centre Midfielder + 1 Wide forward(maybe)
1 Centre Forward

Pickford
Coleman -- Holgate -- ??? -- ???
Gana -- ???
Walcott -- Sigurdsson -- Lookman
Tosun

???/Hewelt
Kenny -- Keane -- Jagielka -- Baines/Robinson
Baningime -- Davies
Dowell -- Vlasic -- Onyekuru/???
???/Calvert-Lewin

So, if we hold onto certain players and clear out everyone else we have a squad of 20 players.

We can add 6 more players (5 if onyekuru gets a permit) there and still be fine on squad size...

Can we add those 6 players from the £7mil wage increase allowed + Robles/Mangala/Henen salaries...id say thats highly unlikely.

...we at least look like we have a transfer strategy. It might take a few windows and time for some players to run down their contracts before the squad is licked into shape.

Amazing how Walsh was allowed to oversee this mess.

Stekelenburg
Cuco
Williams
Browning
Galloway
Mori
Pennington
Connolly
Feeney
McCarthy
Williams (joe)
Grant
Klaassen
Schneiderlin
Mirallas
Bolasie
Rooney
Sandro
Niasse

Theres 19 players there who decisions will be made on.

So according to my post above, thats 19 out and 5 or 6 in.

Brands confirming today we have to sell to buy

Finally some honesty

Said for years we always have to sell our best players to fund our summer spend and this year we don’t have a big name to get rid of and the truth is now coming out. Hopefully more honesty from the club in future

I’m also excited that he wants to get rid of the big earners who aren’t performing and the dead wood to bring in younger players. We’ve seen it work for spurs and city and even the other half. Let’s go
Or (finally) we have somebody high up with the sense not to inflate prices by yelling "we got loads a money!" through the media. :coffee:

80m purchase price
45m in debts
40m on Agent fees
52m on managers comp
20m on land
280m in player purchases
220m on wages

737m total outlay

160m in player sales
290 in revenue

450m total incomings

287million English pounds

£80m purchase price- deduct that, he's not losing that cash, that's an investment.
£45m debts - deduct that, this is a loan that he will claim back. And in any case I thought it was closer to a £150m loan?
£20m land - deduct that, this is money spent on land that IF not used will be reclaimed and if used will be included in any sale further down the line.

Add the line of credit (Chinese Bank) that we owe, £60m. Secured on our tv rights cash for the next three years. (makes you wonder what the council money will be secured on for BM)

Now take the sales of our best players, Lukaku, Stones, Barkley and the TV rights money and tell me he's actually spending his own cash. He's loading us with debt.

Of course we need to ditch the deadwood, most of it acquired over the last year and some of it ageing players we've failed to replace over the years.

The time to judge will be when the window closes, until then it's all in the air. My opinion is Moshiri believed we were getting a free stadium, they gambled with the Lukaku/Stones cash and lost. I hope I'm just another bedwetter but I've been a fan far too long to be fooled again.

I know if I've made any miscalculations that someone will be along within a few minutes to correct me.

Brands:
I think we have to look for a squad Marco can work with & I think there always has to be space for young players to come to the first team. Let’s say players 25-30. But now there are 38 players & a lot of them are not young players any more. They are arrived players.

We have to be honest when we take the decision with these players, do they have prospects here at Everton? Because yeah, some of the conversations will not be nice, but it has to be honest.

You’d have to extraordinarily simple to ignore this part of the interview and just come out with the OH MY GOD WE HAVE TO SELL TO BUY BECAUSE WE’RE SKINT argument.

We’ve bought too much crap and some of it needs to go before we can get better ones. That ain’t sell to buy simple people, it’s repairing.

But people gonna be people I guess.

Like I’ve already said, there is no way in a million years. Brands & Silva come here with no money. Sorry guys but it’s sell to buy. There will be money, how much is anyone’s guess.

Aye, agree on this - it’s a challenge but, if Brands restructures the money we are currently spending on players not contributing and improves the 11 there’s more again to play with when you add the money Moshiri throws in wether it’s TV revenue or his own money.

I have no worries he’ll offload and generate funds that will be added to the promises he had.

I’m trying to flip that and look at it more positively: Moshiri wants to trust the football people at the club to make football decisions. That’s undeniably a good thing.

Hopefully this time, with Brands and Silva, his trust won’t be misplaced.

..I agree that Moshiri should trust them to get on with things but the trust was clearly misplaced at least one window too long. I’m with you on your point, though.

Good players now cost £40 Million plus, it’s simply the case.

What the most we can make at a push? Maybe £60 Million?

Gets us one good player and a few cheap ones.

I think pochettino at spurs got shut of 14 in his first summer at spurs.. this needs to happen too much over paid rubbish at the club
But also not every decision this summer will be popular, I have a feeling some of the players we think should stay will be shipped out
