Sell to buy

If there was money why would we need to reduce the wage bill?
Because we are not a charity for poor footballers. We desperately need a cull after years of having no real end plan and just picking up random players. I finally have confidence these boys know what they are doing after the Walsh debacle.

Like I’ve already said, there is no way in a million years. Brands & Silva come here with no money. Sorry guys but it’s sell to buy. There will be money, how much is anyone’s guess.
Well, we wont be competing for Bale...

Im glad Marcel is thinking clear, already proving himself an astute appointment.

More like common sense in the art of practising prudence, his astuteness for me will be judged with what personnel can be brought in.

Haha I knew this would be one of the first things I saw when I came on here this morning. We were always going to have to sell to help fund transfers and wages. You cannot just keep spending and spending and spending without recouping some of that spend.

25/26 or so is plenty for a first team squad, provided all are capable of playing. You need 3 keepers, 2 for every position, a couple of utility players and a few youngsters. The manager can work with those numbers, everyone has a chance of playing, it creates a much better atmosphere and a closer knit team.
Saying we need to get rid of 12 is stating the obvious and maybe an underestimate ias we need to bring in a few new players.

Stekelenburg
Cuco
Williams
Browning
Galloway
Mori
Pennington
Connolly
Feeney
McCarthy
Williams (joe)
Grant
Klaassen
Schneiderlin
Mirallas
Bolasie
Rooney
Sandro
Niasse

Theres 19 players there who decisions will be made on.

So according to my post above, thats 19 out and 5 or 6 in.

When you look at that list we must be spending somewhere between 800k-1m a week of their wages so 40m -50mil a season. An atleast 100-120mil that can be raised by sales.

There’s probably abar 3-4 players in the whole squad worth keeping. Gonna be a massive rebuilding job over the next few seasons, with lots of players leaving and new faces coming in.

The same people moaning about us getting rid of players would be the same ones crying next year when we’ve got Williams, jagielka, Martina, bolasie etc. Lining up for us.

maybe 10 will actually leave, and 3 or 4 in.

Genuinely no trolling - would love to see us make a substantial profit this summer and cut the wage bill at least 20%

£80m purchase price- deduct that, he's not losing that cash, that's an investment.
£45m debts - deduct that, this is a loan that he will claim back. And in any case I thought it was closer to a £150m loan?
£20m land - deduct that, this is money spent on land that IF not used will be reclaimed and if used will be included in any sale further down the line.

Add the line of credit (Chinese Bank) that we owe, £60m. Secured on our tv rights cash for the next three years. (makes you wonder what the council money will be secured on for BM)

Now take the sales of our best players, Lukaku, Stones, Barkley and the TV rights money and tell me he's actually spending his own cash. He's loading us with debt.

Of course we need to ditch the deadwood, most of it acquired over the last year and some of it ageing players we've failed to replace over the years.

The time to judge will be when the window closes, until then it's all in the air. My opinion is Moshiri believed we were getting a free stadium, they gambled with the Lukaku/Stones cash and lost. I hope I'm just another bedwetter but I've been a fan far too long to be fooled again.

I know if I've made any miscalculations that someone will be along within a few minutes to correct me.

Chinese Bank credit line -- these credit lines are usually for short-term immediate business purposes. They would be settled T+1/Weekly or monthly.

So i'm a bit confused where you've got the 'owed' part from. It's a line of credit extended by the bank...the only odd part about this is that its a Chinese bank.

Good players now cost £40 Million plus, it’s simply the case.

What the most we can make at a push? Maybe £60 Million?

Gets us one good player and a few cheap ones.

Why 40mil? Why not 50/100/150mil lol

Look at Watford as an example, they signed Richarlison and Doucoure for around 20mil. Their 2 best players.

At PSV Brands signed Lozano and he's now attainable for 25mil.

Lascalles is linked at 30mil

Good scouting and negotiation brings in the good players.

The Mirror proposing Lookman as eligible for ‘off-loading’.

One I’d definitely keep.

Everyone would keep him....and that's the mirror mate.

When you look at that list we must be spending somewhere between 800k-1m a week of their wages so 40m -50mil a season. An atleast 100-120mil that can be raised by sales.

Stekelenburg Free
Cuco Free
Williams 2mil
Browning 1mil
Galloway 1mil
Mori 12mil
Pennington 1mil
Connolly 5mil
Feeney (probably loan)
McCarthy 5mil
Williams (joe) 3-5mil
Grant 500k
Klaassen 12mil
Schneiderlin 18mil
Mirallas Free
Bolasie 10mil
Rooney Free
Sandro 6mil
Niasse 15mil

That's 91.5mil....id guess that anywhere around 90mil comes in from sales.
Perhaps 900k there in weekly wages.

Get rid of all of them.

GK - u21 player 10mil?
CB - Lascalles 30mil?
LB -
CM - Carvalho 25mil
WF - Lozano 25mil
FW -

So, for those outgoings wed see 4 players come in and need additional transfer budget to sign a LB and FW.

Makes perfect sense....to me at least lol

I could see those players in bold perhaps staying. 14 players out minimum no problem.

Brands confirming today we have to sell to buy

Finally some honesty

Said for years we always have to sell our best players to fund our summer spend and this year we don’t have a big name to get rid of and the truth is now coming out. Hopefully more honesty from the club in future

I’m also excited that he wants to get rid of the big earners who aren’t performing and the dead wood to bring in younger players. We’ve seen it work for spurs and city and even the other half. Let’s go

It is not the same "sell to buy" as you are thinking mate. We have got so much dead wood and a massive wage bill. Common sense would dictate that reducing both makes it easier and more efficient to run the club

Do you REALLY think that one of the most sought after DOF's in football would have come here from his cushy job where his family are settled to a club that had no money yet expects to challenge top 4 soon????

Why do so many of our fans look only for the negative, they love it, crying at any given point about things they do not even understand.
