Defensively Coleman isn't up to stratch. His postioning is terrible and he's very rash in the challenge.

He's been found out this season as a winger as well. I'd sell him on if we get a decent fee.

It doesnt have to be for the people that voted for him...he was also nominated for PFA young player of the year too. The point being is that, poor season aside, he's still a talented player still waiting to seal a place.

So IMO it is fickle that some fans label him as being instantly **** due to this injury plagued season when you'd hazard a guess that they were saying how good he was last season.

Its a flip switch per season rather than letting a young kid develop and judging him when he's in a settled position over a season or 2 IMO

Anybody calling him s**t is being a bad tit imo, as he's been played out of position for us since day one.

Give him a run at the back and if he doesn't cut the mustard sell him on in January. I'm sure Blackpool would take him.

Who's named ahead of him in the RB/RM slots?

I see McClean has puled out for family reassons. Maybe an opportunity for Coleman to get hi call up?

Kelly, Foley and O'Shea are the options at RB.

RM will be McGeady with cover coming from Duff/Hunt/McClean.

McClean's inclusion may have pushed him out, which isn't surprising if true.

McCarthy isn't in the 23 - his Dad has cancer. So Seamie will only be called up if there is an injury.

The obvious talent is there but he's certainly taken a step back from last seasons performances. It would be such a shame if he didn't make it at Everton.

It was last season I started to doubt whether he'd be the exciting talent we had him down as before the season began. He got shut down a lot on the right, got frustrated and didn't have the answers due to a lack of real quality/ingenuity imo. He's better at right back though, played in behind like Baines, rather than beating a man one on one, no question. Still, I don't think he's quite what we need there. Still a bargain for £60k, mind. Plus he's Irish, honest and has a great attitude.

What Happened?

Every player goes through a barren patch in form after their first year, and he'll come good again this term.

I dont see him claiming a starting place tbh, certainly not on the wing.

Agreed. I see him coming on at RB if we are chasing a game to add more attacking threat. Or to to slot into the RW position to add fresh pace against tiring opposing midfielders and fullbacks nullifying thier ability to get forward.

I see him as a throw of the dice sub myself mate - at right midfiled when players are tired and he can wear them down more, i dont think Moyes will ever play him at full back if im honest, he likes his physicality and height at set pieces in defence, so i dont see him and Baines playing in the same 11 tbh.

Played RB against Motherwell. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
