Running

Yes staying in seahouses.
Have to say, there is mandatory kit, but see no checks, and plenty of people not adhering to the minimum kit. Which is quite annoying as I don't enjoy running with a running vest and clobber.
Weather was fine and warm tbh.
Best bit is, delay to the results. Provisional is out this evening and they've got me as a DNF.
They scan the barcode on your number at two checkpoints and the finish. They don't have the finish registered. Fking marvellous.

"You went all that way, for feck all" springs to mind

Been to Seahouses, it`s a really nice place, long way for you to travel though ?

Having done dozens and dozens of events, that was the one that always stuck out in my mind, as it was so dangerous.

You should get an email off them, asking for feedback and I slated them on it, I`d never slated a race before and I``ve never slated one it since.

The year before I`d done an Autumn race on Snowdon and the weather had been pretty gnarly, they made every single person put all their kit on tables in front of volunteers, who ticked off the kit list - no kit / wrong kit = no race. ( when you got to the top of Snowdon, with the the wind, rain and hail coming at you sideways, you fully understood the kit check before the race )

It put me off Endurance Life events tbh and the fact that they`ve not recorded your time doesn`t surprise me at all.

Have you contacted them ?

Yes 4-4.5 hours, not much less on train to watch the blues at home though. Just fancied a coastal race tbh.
Got Brecon beacons in may and lakes October (Glenridding) booked so far.

Yep I've emailed them, if they don't resolve they get a bad review 👍🏻

Lakeland Trails Glenridding ?

It’s the only one of their races I’ve never done !

I’ve done the one the day before - Helveyn, which is one of my favourite courses in the UK.

Have you got anywhere to stay for the weekend you do Helveyn race ?

Keswick is expensive, as it’s Keswick and the hotels around Ullswater are quite posh, so pricey.

I’ve become pally with a fella just outside Coniston, who has renovated it and split it into really nice rooms / does a good price for cash and there’s a lovely pub facing it, that does nice food and also breakfast - you could break your journey and stay on the Friday, with the race being a 1pm start.

The Shepherds Arms at Ennerdale is good too - near to Helveyn.

Yes, already bagged premier Inn Keswick on canx rate, always looking ahead me. Have to with Everton fixtures too!

Good to know about the Coniston digs though, always on the lookout for trail events in the lakes as long as it's feasible and fits in with school half terms/bank hols.
;)

Meant to say, the fella I`m pally with, has renovated a beautiful old pub, that was no longer viable to run as a pub, as the tiny village couldn`t sustain two pubs, so he turned the pub into really nice rooms.

He`s incredibly flexible with check in / checkout times too, non of this out by 10am malarky.

Coming to the end of another C25K course. The 5 remaining runners have been fantastic running in all sorts of bad weather.

However, since my 2 month sebbatical from running from November, I've noticed when running a 28min 5k, my heartrate is up at 170bpm. I've noticed my VO2max levels tumbled after my break so I'll have to do quite a bit of easy running to increase this again. Isn't amazing how fast you lose your fitness but it takes so long to get it back.

Age plays a big part too.

Best analogy I read, was you start off as a Mini Cooper as a youngster and end up as a 20 year old Transit van, with 200k on the clock 😂
