Running

Did you use Runna? I know that's meant to be good, although Strava bought it recently
No Haven't heard of that one. I did try Zombies, RUN! for a while. It was amusing as you hear zombies chase you from time to time but the more miles you do the more supplies you win.

Also my Apple Watch has the Nike app on it but I'm not a fan of it.

First race of the year - North Lakes Half Marathon.

Started in Cockermouth town centre and out into the single track lanes in the Lorton Vallley. Some of which were more like trails, they were in such bad condition.

Very wet, with a full Winter wrap up and beat my previous half marathon PB by five mins, which was a nice surprise 🏃‍♂️
Not like you to be on the roads?! 😀
Was up in Keswick after Xmas doing plenty of walking, gagging to get back up there

I`ve come to like the rural half marathons, they`re almost like quasi trail races, as quite often the little country lanes are like trails, poorly maintained, covered in mud and water from the farm vehicles and you usually get to run a bit lower down, so you can run at a quicker pace.

I`ve got another one on the road in March - Coniston 14, which is believe is a massive event.( 1000 plus runners ).

I`d never do one in a city though.

Brutal start but each to their own.

Seriously though that is a Beautiful stretch of road. Must be a joy to run up.

That was the run up to the even nicer bits, tiny country lanes with no traffic, with the fells either side of you as you ran - which is why I`ve started doing a few of these rural road races. ( doing the Coniston 14 next month, which is one lap of Lake Coniston on then road )

I`m liking the the look of the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon too.

I'm sticking with 5kms for a while to build my strength up. I was absolutely drained after the amount of 10k races I did last year. I'm not a natural long distance runner having originally been a sprinter. (Also the over-indulgence at Xmas) But I do enjoy a 5 miler or a 10k.

I have a 10 mile training run that I used to do that took in part of the coastal path of Belfast Lough. Certainly beat Industrial Estates and other Grey Urban views.

I’ve been having back/ neural issues for 5 months , haven’t run for 3 months, tried everything physio, chiropractor, Pilates, all the usual core/ back stretches, gets better ,then back to square 1 . I’ve got a MRI and upright XRay on Monday. Tried pool running today , still a problem and a fear I won’t get back running again, certainly not longer distances 😕
