Running

Unfortunately this weekend race is full, but there's a waiting list

Have a look at Matlock ac site too, they host a handful this year

I`ve looked at their site a few times, the runs are either too short, too long ( self navigated ) or too far over towards Nottingham

I`ve found one in November over by Buxton, which sounds like a decent one to do.

What a route and such a worthy cause 💙

Did you get any photos ?

Ps - was it waymarked or self navigated - I`ve never done a trail race in the Peak District and I`ve been looking for one that`s waymarked for a couple of years now, that isn`t an endurance test of self navigation !
They provided a map and very detailed route description which I downloaded to my phone. It was also partially marked with black arrows and there were marshals at some intersections, as well as 6 checkpoints. The only bit of the route I didn't know was around Baslow so didn't need to check the map too often.

I'm tempted by it but we usually go away in September, though with the world being how it is we might be stuck here.

Only photos I took were of the deer, though my wife did take a video of me finishing - not a pretty sight!

I`m the same mate, I either look like I`m about to collapse or a sweaty hunchback who`s about to collapse at the finishing line

I`m really wary of any form of self navigation, after doing a couple on moorland courses, which I would`ve got totally lost on, but for buddying up with other runners - one course was shrouded in mist and you couldn`t see more than 20 ft in front of you, so just couldn`t get any bearings at all.

I must`ve done well over 50 events on way marked courses, but generally steer clear of self navigating tbh !

Yeah when the fog comes down its easy to get disorientated. A few weeks ago we were walking across a moor we know really well but somehow took a wrong turn and only realised about 5 minutes later when it just felt different. Managed to retrace our steps and get back on the right path.

Second race of the year - Coniston 14.

One lap of Coniston lake.

Glorious day and due to it being such a nice day, decided to jog the whole course and enjoy it, rather than legging it around and dying at the end 😂
Need to move my family closer to the lakes!

Did the Lakeland trails Coniston race some years back, was my first off-roader. Loved it

I just walk mate ....

Anyone got a Garmin Forerunner 165? About to order one as I have given up on my FitBit now after constant GPS issues but wondering if they're really worth the £200.
A good few people in my running club have the Garmin Music and really like it but it took them a while to work out how to do laps etc as the labeling is quite small
