Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

Because nobody is saying they would turn down an offer of a new contract with better money simply because. They're saying they'd turn it down in favour of a move to Everton.

I don't think anybody expects Rooney to turn it down in this thread either, just some people are disappointed that he hasn't.

And I don't think it's unfair for them to be disappointed as we're all football fans and would love for him to come back.

I just want them to be fair towards his decision making process.

Not necessarily.

If he feels that at this point, he's well taken care of for the rest of his life financially (assuming he saved and invested wisely and is wise in his spending habits as well), then he may well say that he'd like to finish his career for us for say 100k a week, knowing he could have earned more in the long run.

Everyone is different in that respect and finishing his career for Everton may be more important for him than earning 250k vs. 100k a week.

I don't know Wayne Rooney, or his family, or his advisors, but he'd have some hard decisions to make.

spot on.

Any Evertonian knows playing for everton or 'more money' when you've already got more money than you know what to do with

Is no contest.

Everton wins every time.

Unless you're more interested in money and therefore not an Evertonian.

300k for 5 years. Lol how deperate are man u. As soon as Suarez got 250k of the rs. I knew Rooney would want more. He took the paycheck over everton which always an option. Stretford will be telling him efc will have u when your 32. Sorry for starting this thread.

Sorry Stretford. You can do one.

Really if he signs he's choosing money and working under a manager he doesn't like over something he allegedly loves. If he wanted to come and play for us enough, he'd do it, it really is that simple. It wouldn't be easy to convince his agent or whoever else might be in it for themselves and want the wedge, but it does stop with Rooney at the end of the day.

In no other field of work would earning £80k PER WEEK to do the thing you love most in the world be sniffed at. I'm sure he's set for life now anyway.

I'm bored of the speculation surrounding it now and don't think he's ever been serious about coming back, not too arsed.

We're bigger than him anyway if he feels like that.

Spot on. Paul Stretford holding him back is nonsense, if he wanted to come back he'd tell him where to go and just do it. But he doesn't, so that is that I suppose.

If he signs a 5 year deal then then earliest he'd come here is when he's 32 or 33. No thanks.

Makes no sense at all to stay at Utd either way, even if he doesn't come here he'd be better off going somewhere else from that sinking ship. Either he's very badly advised or he really is as stupid as he looks

Five more years at Man U, then a ridiculous retirement package for Beckham's Miami team when he's 32.

He doesn't care about Everton. Time to get over it. Barkley will achieve more here and be a bigger Everton great than Rooney ever was/could have been.
