Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

Jonah Hill is one thing; a braindead chav who has long since had his head turned by spurious advisers is another.

Sadly, he won't play for Everton again - at least, not in his prime. I tried to delude myself that it was possible at one point, but nah, no chance.

don't mind johah hill, but its very easy to say 'do what your care about' when your loaded, in fact it sounds very hollow, as will be proven when Rooney sacks off the slightest thought of coming back to us, because he is offered over three times the wages elsewhere, I'd love him back, but its now or never, swerve the token gesture at 34, were not tranmere

Are you implying that Rooney isn't loaded??

This thread really does depress me.

There's delusion, there's gullible and then there's this.

It will be a sad day if he returns - he'll return on his terms, which will be when he's well past it. I hope we've progressed as a Club to not need him when that day comes.

I agree. Bobby's boys won't need him. I've come to this conclusion.

I think Rooney would use Everton to further his next bumper pay deal. His true loyalties continue to be focused entirely around money.

It's true. You get more happiness from things you do that make you feel proud than you get from accumulating more wealth than you could ever spend without wasting it.

Its like these MEGA RICH philanthropists like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and a few hedge fund managers recognised this too.

What is there to life when you're already rich? Making more money?

But still. I think we've moved past Rooney. People just haven't realised it yet.

Yea, I think Rooney's part of our history and that's it. Don't see him coming back. Still tho, I can't shake the hope that he might do the morally right thing and come home. There's something special happening at Everton and if he passes up the opportunity to be part of it just to stuff more cash under his mattress, he's a bigger idiot than I thought.

This is pretty much how I feel. I would of thought he has enough money for him and his family for their lifetimes. You'd also think after retiring there will be plenty of opportunity for him in coaching/media etc to carry on bringing money in. The money he would earn here wouldn't exactly be brass buttons either....

You'd just think it's something he'd really fancy doing at this stage of his career with his club who let's face it are pretty boss these days! He has the chance that not many would have to come back and probably could still end up a hero here even after everything that has happened.

Maybe he honestly doesn't care, maybe he thinks he's too good for us, maybe the money means more...who knows, we shall see I suppose.

Sounds melodramatic but not seeing him play for us in the prime of his life, I have a feeling, will go down as one of the biggest disappoints of my time as an Evertonian...along with selling him in the first place. It's a feckin' travesty and everyone knows it, some are just in denial.

I agree totally, just hope that Barkley doesn't have the same instant mash potato attitude to success, because we ain't going to get that level of youth player for a third time.

Don't blame him for not coming back if he is going to be offered 300k a week or whatever the rumour is. Ridiculous that

...4 or 5 year contract on offer of £300k per week, plus captain of the biggest football club in the world as well as a say on future transfer targets/contracts. I can't see him back here as anything other than owner of a private box.
