Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

If Rooney was intrested in coming to us, he and his agent knows that he would be giving up millions in wages & MKT opps to join everton. Who knows, just maybe he would happy to take 70 grand a week and 3m signing on fee becuase he just wants to see out his last football contract with everton football club.

But why would he do that now and not in 5 years?

Something else that we'd need to take into account in a Rooney vs Lukaku debate would be longevity.

Say we did buy Rooney, I'd pretty much imagine he'd stay with us until retirement. The former wonderkid returned to his boyhood club etc.

If we signed Lukaku, we may only get one or two seasons out of him before a PSG, Real Madrid etc decide they want him.

At the risk of sounding cynical, if we bought Lukaku and sold him after a few years to a rich club the profit could be massive. Like upwards of £30m net. Rooney wouldn't have any sell-on value as if he came here he'd be here until retirement.

Rooney is the more complete/better player though and could make a lot more things happen on the pitch than Lukaku.
Its a very good, yet very tricky question. Ill be honest, i was going to ask something similar myself. I really dont know what answer to give.

The right answer is it's pointless to speculate because we won't be able to afford either of them.

Due to Rooney signing his last contract under the age of 28, after the first 3 years of that contract (which has been and gone) he can buy out his contract. If he did this, there'd be no transfer few, but he'd no doubt expect a massive signing on fee to cover the cost of buying out his contract, and any lost earnings as well. The question would be would he do that?

If thats the case then surely any club could "arrange" for him to buy out his contract (lets say £250,000 *52 = £13m) and then make a private arramgement with the player for wages etc.... On that basis could Utd cahrge any more then the £13m or clubs will just do it the way desdcribed above.

On the dwonside could that scenario also apply to Baines, if he was able to buy himself out of his final year (£70,000 *52 = £3.64m) can we expect clubs to not try and manipulate that rule also ?

Wayne Rooney is on more money per week than our three highest earners combined...and then some. It wouldn't be breaking our wage structure more raping it until it's bedraggled corpse is swept away with the tide.

Why people think he'll drop £175k a week to join us is beyond me.

That is it Bryan, people forget who is agent is. Stretford really turned us over back then.

Rooney will not play for Everton ever again. He might return to the club in some back room job like Dunc but playing no.

Rooney isnt coming while hes still useful.

People need to get over his Evertonian thing. He doesnt give a ****, nor do his agent. He wants £250k a week, if not more with his contract running down.

Pipedream Roy of the Rovers stuff thinking the greedy little granny shagger will come to his boyhood club to help us win honours.

It just aint going to happen. I wanted it to like everyone else...but ive accepted that it never will - while hes actually worth having anyway

Close this thread MODS ffs, he,s not coming back. not sure he would be welcomed and do we need him and his ego? thanks but no thanks.
