The fundamental difference between the two was that there's a convincing case to be made that Martinez failed because of the inability of the players to carry out the game plan and Koeman failed because he had no game plan at all.

Both failed but for different reasons.

Martinez I can easily see getting better as a coach if he gets real about the players he coaches (something he doesn't need to do atm given the talent at his disposal), whereas Koeman offers nothing - no strategy, no identity. Nothing.

It's basically a choice between something and nothing.

Got us that much that he took us to court (or threatened it) for £10m of our money that his failings didn't merit.
I'm talking about his time "at" the club, obviously he felt hard done by in the end with the sack but the point of the thread was who was the better manager at Everton.

Some people will simply forget how the end was with Roberto, as they are not able or do not want to.

The end of Koeman was pretty much the same, only more of a mystery as we had just had the biggest spending spree in the clubs history.

I couldn't care less about either of them now, it's all about the future.

However, Martinez had a good season as he took over a good side and added a couple of nice additions. Koeman had to try and rebuild morale, the belief and get rid of the McGeady's, Kone's etc of this world, so before you try point scoring on who bought better or worst, just remember that!

I reckon @ianefc was secretly jilted by Roberto and was paid off not to go to the press.

That's why he takes out his anger against him on a football forum instead.

Love you Ian x

When you factor out that that neither won anything, and ultimately failed, it really is no contest.

Roberto Martinez produced a side that could actually attack.

It's a no brainer.
Spot on.

RM set a PL points record and placed fifth with a negative net spend of £13M; Koeman cratered us playing some of the worst football since Walter Smith's and the club paid £200M for the dubious privilege.

Thought Koeman actually did a pretty good job
Definitely in his first season after a shaky start.

As manager though, the buck stops with him despite it being likely that he's been let down massively by Walsh and the board.

Martinez > Koeman

We won 5 league games at Goodison under Martinez in 15-16, FIVE! Don't tell me that laughable charlatan was better then Koeman. Last season we won more home league games then Martinez managed in the previous two seasons combined. Koeman had to come in here a clean up the rubbish left by El Fruado and yes he bungled it handsomely and made the situation far worse but we wouldn't of been in that rebuilding position in the first place had the charlatan not ruined what was a very good side. Even now the cultists seek to defend their beloved, they're both crap lads! Nobody other turn a few deluded fools will ever look back fondly on either of them.
