Roberto Martinez discussion

We had far worse periods under Moyes, anyway. 2009-10 season we went on the following run in all competitions:

DDLLLDLWLLLWDDLDD

Won two games between October the 4th and December 26th. By comparison our form over the same period this season:

LWDWDWDWWLWLLW

And yet some would have you believe this is the worst we've ever played and we're going to get relegated. Madness.
Your sequence for this season is incorrect. The end sequence is actually LLWL (ie 1 win out of 4, not 2) and you've also omitted a draw (v Hull) immediately before this sequence. So, our last 6 games have produced 1 win, 1 draw and 4 defeats, somewhat worse than your 3 wins out of 6.

Stop that reasonable stuff.

We're all supposed to be running around throwing our hands up in the air and screaming "PANIC!!!!! PANIC!!!!!!".

And yet still a far better run of results than the ones we got under Moyes. The point remains the same.

Since the season started:

8 wins
8 draws
7 losses

That's a higher win ratio than Moyes managed in his entire tenure at Everton, which was 42%. Even taking into account the relatively poor start to this season compared to last, Martinez's win ratio stands at 48%. You won't find higher than that outside of the money clubs.

It's not fair that you're resorting to facts. How can these lads try and get a successful lynch mob together if you keep on bringing reality into this?

Stop it. Stop it now.

Davek, you've obviously not read my correction to Brennan's stats.

Your correction makes no difference to the point of the post, which is that we've undergone far worse runs of form under Moyes and came out of it.

Our three most recent league losses have been Spurs away, City away, and Southampton away.

Bit of perspective.

Do you want him sacked?
I want him to manage our great club with passion and desire.
He is mis managing us so badly this season and its getting worse.
If he carries on the road he is going on then yes but if he grows a pair and sorts out our turgid tippy tappy garbage then i will get behind him.
The christmas period has 3 winnable games lets hope we see a change.

Brennan's right. I've seen everton teams worse than this. On a regular basis.

Doesn't mean that what is happening this season is good enough, mind.

I think there is a middle ground between panicking about relegation and pretending everything is ok, though. Martinez has done well for us on the whole but he's making mistakes right now. The fact that other managers also make mistakes doesn't change that.

It was offside and a foul surely? No?

The justified criticism of Martinez. He is being too nice with the underperforming players.

Sometimes the stick is needed not just the carrot.

If Moyes produced some of absolute dross that Martinez has this season he'd be getting pelters for it, but it seems that Martinez is exempt from criticism in some quarters. We've been dire at times this season and the manager is ultimately responsible. I don't want him sacked, but I do want him to react and adapt to take account of the fact that we've been sussed in the league and teams know how to negate us.

But he seems incapable of adapting to that simple fact and keeps ploughing on in the same weary furrow.

I'm going criticise him for that and I don't need any super fans telling me that I have no right to.

Agree with anyone who says that Martinez approach this season is tantamount to borderline sabotage.

Why is eto'o not played up front? Why is Barkely shunted out to the wings to accommodate unfit and out of sorts barry. These And other questions need to be answered by the manager before it's too late.
