Martinez also changed the style and inner workings of the club and you could argue its a bigger job than either Moyes or LVG have had at UTD.

..but why do you think he didn't address the GK situation sooner, particularly in light of it being glaringly obvious to all?

I can only think he saw Howard's reasonable form toward the end of last season and felt he'd turned a corner (I did the figures elsewhere and they were better than the first part of the season up until Christmas when he got injured). He'd also boxed himself into a corner by handing Howard a new contract at the end of his first season here. I dont think it helped either that we had a player like Robles who would put up with being #2 and place no pressure on Martinez to pick him over an out of form #1.

Whatever the case, I think all recent comments from RM indicate strongly that the "Secretary for Defence" is being punted this summer...about two summers too late.

If we are classing 11th with 50 points in his fourth season a disaster then what was 11th with 47 points last year? Or likely similar this?

7th in his first? He was hired in March...hardly can't call that his first.

17th, 4th, 11th were his first three seasons in charge.
