Roberto Martinez discussion

Oh there is defo a certain faction who would have him back in a heartbeat. The comparisons are not apples to apples as much as folks want to make them. £28 mil is a massive number...I reckon on today's economics the £11.5 on Yak is about the same in comparison.

My biggest problem with the whole argument with Moyes is he was given 11 years...2 of his first 3 were disasters.

Yes Martinez was given a better squad, but was it really that much better comparatively? Compared to the league? Are the financial statuses the same league wide? Are we in the same financial ranking position that we were then as were are now? Not really...we live among the poor, rich clubs.

Moyes was never treated with the crap support Martinez has got...the atmosphere is not productive. Wish the match goers would get it through their heads that it is counterproductive to create a negative environment. It only increases the opponent's confidence and decreases ours.

Thankfully the away support has been ace.

Creating a "negative environment" at Goodison may well "increase the opponent's confidence and decrease ours". Unfortunately it's also the only way we'll ultimately generate enough pressure on our board to sack this whopper

Our home fans used to pelt the players with heavy cushions if the lost at home.

They get paid to produce results. This team has lost four of the last six home games and it is an absolute embarrassment.

Sometimes some managers just don't work out at clubs, are we an anomaly to this?

We can't carry on the way we have been during the past two seasons. Our expectations have already dropped from being regulars in the Top 6 to him now saying Top 10. We're on a slippery slope.

Three seasons is more than enough time to judge a manager, especially in the results driven business the Premier League is today.

I doubt Leicester and Spurs are sitting there worrying what Sherwood and Pearson are up to and them two managers actually delivered on their objectives.

I've said for a while we've got everything in place to be an outrageous counter attacking side. But, play long, short, possession, counter and do it all in the one game. We'd be a dangerous unpredictable beast.
You can't be a counter attacking side against everyone though. At home vs West Brom for example. And particularly if they manage to get a goal.

Quite right lid. Nor should we try to be against the likes of them. We can still mix it up, change the formation, give them something different to think about etc..

The moyes stuff is so tiring and dull. Always looking to the past instead of looking to the future.

The club and it,s fan base need to think bigger and better when it comes to future management appointments. We will never move up a level if we look down the ladder.

7th, 17th, 4th in his first 3 seasons. I see one bad season.

If we are classing 11th with 50 points in his fourth season a disaster then what was 11th with 47 points last year? Or likely similar this?

I really don't understand the fascination to cling onto failure in the hope that something will come good.

On another point I noticed brown shoes has admitted the potential of failure this season. At least he understands that blaming a season on the result of one match (see Leicester - last season) was an embarrassment.

Worst points total that season for 44 years. Relegation might not have been an issue in the end but it was a sackable offence to finish with 39 points. He was very very lucky to remain in his position.

There is no failure. No one sensible can look at the football we've been playing throughout this season and the deepening and advance of a squad of players and call it failure. And, btw, no one can call the PL position failure - even if it stays where it is. You fail in this league when you're in a relegation dog fight, unless you're one of the financially doped clubs, that is.

Yes but Martinez isn't bigger or better

Another day same old turd.
I agree. It is going round and round in circles. We'll be here next season with this thread or one like it too.

I think it's a toxic "debate" now for the forum itself. It poisons the water.

FWIW: if I were admin I'd open this thread for 48 hours after the end of each game for discussion and then lock it for the rest of the time.
