I'm not sure strange is the word' I'd simply use passionate. Everton are different from other clubs, in it's very rare that I've known an Everton fans who doesn't live, breathe and sleep Everton. At school nearly all the Everton fans went to the match, at least when they could afford it. Most Liverpool fans you meet on the street have never been to a game, they just buy the merchandise. Supporting Everton is a bit like joining the mafia or a cult, you're in for life. As I've said on here before just go the pub to watch an Everton match and then a Liverpool match and notice the difference. You nearly always end up have a great laugh, with random strangers, the only thing you share in common is a love for Everton. We're just very passionate fans.
It depends the way you look at it. Are we better than last season? Yes. However do we look like we are going to get into the top 4 or even challenge for it? I'm not sure. I'm not a huge fan of Martinez however, I think this was just ones of those games were the players don't perform. I thought it would be a strange game and that's what it was. I think it's too early to make any predictions about where we will finish, until the end of the January transfer window. This season we will really be able to truly judge Bobby.I've said all season, we're doing ok. Fact is, some would have us believe we're doing brilliantly when in reality we will have played at least 16 games of a 38 season before we win back to back games, and we have failed to beat two of last seasons promoted teams - the excuse of the worlds most difficult fixture list has well gone.
No reason to panic but no reason to rejoice either. We look pretty average overall, slightly better than last year, but average nonetheless.
I don't think it was as bad as result as some people are making out. I think the result was more to do with the game on Tuesday than anything else. I don't think you can read too much into todays game. Our defence has looked better in recent games, today was just a off day. That post was aimed at the folks who only seem to show up after a bad result and post in this thread ad nauseam.

Dont really follow this logic to be honest.
How to "judge" Martinez this season? For me its about bringing in top young superstars and creating a team/squad...thats not done in a few seasons.
Hes building something special.
I understand this "geordieisatiom" has it's roots in the Lower Gwlady's. Perhaps some action needs to be considered against said group...The two biggest dangers to Everton in the medium termed future is the ownership of the club and the slow geordieisation of our fanbase.
sorry about your luck punk but you are speaking trash and while that happen you gonna have me to contend with.
that is not a good thing. change your ways before you get hurt.
This is a very good post LL. Everton at least keep us on the edge of our seats...whether we're playing Man City or Barnsley. We should change our motto to : Nil Satis Nisi Caprice.Spend a fair bit of time lurking on the redcafe site. A common refrain is how incredibly boring their matches are

Some are mollified by their league position but not many - a lot seem to believe it is a false position and they haven't a hope of actually winning anything with LVG's mentality.
Whereas when you look at Arsenal boards they generally like the football but complain about the lack of consistency and ability to win some of the games, such as WBA, that they should.
Everyone wants the combination of exciting and successful football but it can be incredibly difficult to regularly achieve even for the most experienced coaches with seasoned players and the richest budgets - for example Mourinho for all his brilliance isn't managing either this season and Chelsea were dire to watch the last six months of last season.
Successful as they are, don't think I'd enjoy supporting either LVG or Mourinho teams, watching us attack like we did vs Villa is just so much fun.
Good point2-0 is an awkward scoreline. Always has been, always will be. Especially early in the game. Another goal and it's over, but the urgency to go all out for it isn't there. Only the title focussed teams in their pomp can do it. They're that single minded and deadly. Getting pulled back to 2-1 was the key moment. So late on in the game and knowing we were vulnerable to an equaliser.
That said, I also believe we got ahead of ourselves and were mentally preparing for Tuesday a bit early.
It cant be underlined enough though:
7th
Unbeaten in 5
3 losses in 14 games
Scoring 14 in the last 4 games
A win away from the SFs of a cup
...bigger picture and all that.
