Realistic position in the League

If we play like that every week, keep all our players injury free, suffer no suspensions, suffer no loss of form from any player, stay lucky for every game and have no dodgy ref decisions, we will utterly piss the League with 38 Wins.

But all of those things will happen at some point.

I think around 5th if we are VERY lucky with the things above, 6th or 7th if not.

If we get VERY lucky, we could get 4th.

To be honest mate people are getting so, so carried away.

It's okay beating United but there are more Stokes and Readings we'll have to face. Teams that won't take the game to us, but expect us to take it to them.

That's a totally different challenge and traditionally where we've been sh*t in the past few years. Villa will be interesting as we're leaps and bounds ahead of them all of a sudden, despite them being close rivals for years. That said we've got our usual Villa hoodoo to contend with and we're playing away. It's got 1-1 all over it.

7th/8th probably we need to solve winning games where we play midtable/lower league teams and for some reason play 4-5-1 at home and get beat 0-1 by stoke, QPR. draw with norwich, blackburn.

happens every season. until we solve this and moyes be more positive against these teams then we wont finish higher than 7th. 60 points doesnt get you 5th anymore. you need 70.

Only 4 home games in the first 10 could prove a stumbling block in to having a great start.

Luckily all the aways aren't against any of the big teams.

20 points from these games could see us finish top 4, any less then 6th or 7th.

Its easy to get carried away tho.

We played utterly superb last night, BUT, there are question marks.

IMO we lacked creativity BIG time and as you say, the Stokes of this World wont attack us like the Uniteds, they will camp, like we do at times.

But we have the Kevinmonator to rip them a new 1, its all good mate, I wonder what price we are for the League, not even arsed.

Last night was superb, im just gonna enjoy it and ride it all the way till Saturday.

Don't see why we can't challenge for fourth. Liverpool may or may not improve, but Tottenham will be losing Modric and Arsenal have lost RVP and Song whereas we've brought in Pienaar, Mirallas and Naismith and only sold what's virtually dead wood.

Im with you mate.

Fully.

People were bemoaning the fact we had a tough start in United last night but I really think it has done us a huge favour. If you cant raise yourself for a game against them then who can you raise it against. Instead of a Blackburn, Stoke, Swansea is was Manchester United and we smashed them.

WE"RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE FFS!

*Until we lose 3-0 to villa and Fellaini leaves to join Real

Any lower than 7th would be disappointing but if we have a good run in first ten games and avoid injurys then 4th or 5th is possible.

After yesterday's superb performance from Fellaini, Jagielka, Distin and the rest of the lads, what do you believe is a realistic position we could finish in the league this season? Heitinga, our player of the season, couldn't even start yesterday and that speaks volumes for me. We have a squad capable of competing at the top of the league and I do believe that if we play like that for the rest of the season, 4th is without doubt a target which we could achieve, of course it is going to take alot of hard work but hopefully we just re-create the wins by the odd goal like the 2004-05 season. Thoughts?

Got to disagree with that bit mate.

A squad means injuries don't have a marked effect on your performance. Take Felli, Pienaar and Jelavic out that side last night and We'd struggle bad IMO.

We've got a good 16 who can give any side a game but we'd need to be very, very lucky with injuries to get near 4th.

We seem to have come out of our worst injury periods with decent backs to the wall type result though, so maybe we can do something special.

I think top 6 is possible, but we would need to be lucky with injuries and hope teams like; Spurs, Newcastle and the Red Sh!t drop points

Personally I would take top 10 and win a cup all day. I want a cup and an open top bus through the middle of Liverpool :)

Phil Neville said it last night on Sky after the game in his interview. We should be challenging for Top 4 Top 5. We have the first team to challenge it, but as someone has already said, not the squad. One injury and we are screwed in terms of quality being able to step in. I cannot see why Top 6 isnt doable.
