Realistic position in the League

If we play like we did last night, every game!! top 4 easy..

Sadly world class team couldn't maintain that pace all year in the prem.

So with out being hammered by injuries I will say 6th is a good shout.

We played well last night, but it was the first game of the season. If we were 3rd and we'd just battered Utd and it was mid December i'd have more optimism. Lets see how the next 10 games go, because guarantee it won't be as easy as people think.

I'd imagine we'll finisg 6/7/8th this season, depending on how others around us do

I know our squad is good and we've actually managed to add players of quality this transfer window, rather than sell them (so far, at least) but I'm really struggling to see how we'd finish above Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool to claim 4th, I just can't see it.

Tottenham and Newcastle will most likely be battling for 5th so that's going to be a tough one too. Although Tottenham are so far weaker than they were last season and they're running out of time to put things right.

We've got a better squad than Liverpool, but they've got the better mentality, they know how to win big games when under pressure.

I'd love to be able to say 4th or 5th but I just think it's a step too far for us.

6th-8th.

I can see AVB losing Tottenham like he did Chelsea. He's already showing the door to the likes of Huddleston and Dawson. Depending on how the next month or so goes, I could easily see them slipping back into the place they were after they sacked Jol.

to be honest i just want to be back in Europe, would take any position which meant we could be in the Europa League

I dont think arse will fare to well, they have lost a lot of quality over the past few years. spuds wont either with AVB in his first year at the club. ergo everton = 4

Well we finished above Liverpool last year and they've weakened whilst we've strengthened. Newcastle are ok but are likely to be even more vulnerable to a few injuries than we are, take Cisse, Cabaye and guiterresxez out of their team and it starts to look very, very avereage.

Arsenal have just lost a 30 goal striker and their best midfielder. Few good signings as well mind, but not inconceivable we could overtake them.

Spurs could be about to lose Modric and teams look to have Bale sussed out these days, they could fade badly this year.

Top 4 is a very real possibility, particularly if we sign a couple more players before the end of the transfer window and Barkely fulfills his promise.

Another factor in our favour is that we're the only ones out of the teams i expect to be competing for that 4th spot who don't have European football to contend with,

I just go with expecting nothing and hoping for everything. I suppose it's made me a bit cautious and maybe a bit negative.

I just don't want my heart broken :(

it depends how we follow up boss results like last night
we'll see on saturday, hopefully top 5

to be fair some swansea and west brom fans are probably thinking the same thing

5th highest I think, probably between 5th and 8th. We still have a small squad with some inexpierenced players in it. It all depends ho lucky we are with injuries and suspensions. We need to win a cup this year.

Our first 11 are able to take the fight to any team in the PL, we can even loose one player or two (in the right spots) and still be a force to be feared. Our backline only allowed more goals than the two Manchester teams, and we have improved our offence since last season started. Mirallas, Naismith, Pienaar & Jelavic will all give us more force upfront. That said... our squad are still small, and that is the only reason I can't see us having a fair shot at the top-spots. If wrong players in our squad get into a dip there is no backup to take their place near their lvl.

I think ManC, ManU & Chelsea are far ahead of us, if they play as they can play. Spurs will be hard to reach, Arsenal as well (but closer unless they bring in more players before the transferwindow closes) but Newcastle and Liverpool aren't better than us. For me the following applies:

8:th and missed Europe -> Failure
7:th -> Ok if we reach Europe, otherwise... Meh!
6:th -> Good
5:th -> Very good
4:th -> Fantastic

My prediction: 6:th (ManC, ManU, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal ahead of us)

Anywhere between 4th and 8th.

We're all saying 'What if we get injuries?' but the teams we're competing against - sh!te, spuds, arse, barcodes, all have europe to contend with and hopefully our squad hold up better to less fixtures.

Bearing in mind the barcodes will be losing Cisse and Ba for ACON. So they should be screwed.
Arsenal losing song is an absolute blow to them.
Spuds losing Modric, and a shaky defence.
Sh!te well, they're poo. We'll still get beat by them again, but finish above them.
