I wonder if it's in part because it become too easy to call people right wing/racist nowadays.

Things like vote Brexit = racist gammon.

Express concern over uncontrolled immigration = racist.

People lash out if they don't feel listened to don't they?

And agitators will exploit that. And scum/opportunist arseholes will jump on.
This is true, but it's also too easy for rabid racists to pretend they aren't because of claims of concern about "sovereignty" and "control of our courts"

And expressing a concern about uncontrolled immigration tends to fall down when presented with evidence which shows that migration adds a net positive for the country and many sectors in the UK would struggle without it.

One of the big problems with the management of immigration is dropping refugees into areas which are already deprived and already struggle with access to services - so the tension becomes heightened.

But let's contrast the presentation of Ukrainian refugees in public and press compared to those from Syria/Afghanistan....its world's apart.

Because national identity was robbed by the most brain-dead of individuals who used it as a defence to say "you're not English" if you disagree with them.

They also can't make valid arguments or discussions that aren't routed in some kind of bigotry if order to progress anything.

This is then weaponised by people in power. Which is a tactic going back to the middle ages.

Good point but the problem is that they're not evenly distributed.
They go to already crowded places.
I spent twenty two years teaching classes in north east London that typically had between one and four "white British" kids and I loved it. I'm sure there must have been some racist attitudes amongst the white British parents but it early if ever reared its head.

That was what was claimed, and I'm used to viewing mass scale demos like that and if it wasn't a hundred thousand it wasn't far short of it.

They came in their tens of thousands from around the country and swamped central London and camped out there hearing hate speeches and listening to 'music' and watching propaganda films.

Was that a great idea do you think given whats happened subsequently?

Cooper should resign. The fact there's been no calls for her to do so, as far as I know, is unfathomable.
Christ sake, it’s not just Everton you over react to.
You are a man of experience. Every generation has some form of disorder that blows away as quick as it starts. Let’s hope this moves on…

Another issue is that the infrastructure simply isn't there. Houses, schools, available GP/dental spaces.

The issue worldwide is that the human population is growing too quickly. Not so much an issue in western societies where the birth rate is starting to decrease in comparison to generations gone by. However in parts of Asia, Middle East & Africa they continue to breed like rabbits. Throw in conflict in those regions & you get a lot more migration into the West.
There's no infrastructure because of the decisions of the wealthy and powerful. Many regional conflicts are as a direct or indirect western foreign policy.

685,000 might seem like a lot - and is easy to exploit for the likes of Farage and Yaxley-Lennon - but divided between a population of about 67,000,000 it's sod all, really. One in a thousand. The equivalent of an average secondary school's intake being increased by two. The equivalent of an extra 40 people in a full Goodison. Swamped? Nah, mate. We need an honest public conversation about immigration and it's huge benefits as well as its possible negatives. Sadly, Labour are cacking themselves about losing votes to ReformUK and even the EDL.
You're out by a factor of 10 BTW
It's 1 in 100
