Thought long and hard about this one.

I can understand why it's dividing opinion and I understand why some don't like the idea, but on balance I have to say YES.
Obviously at 31 he is not the superstar he was, but I.M.O. he still has at least 2 seasons left at Prem level.
Will he improve our current squad ? - YES, and I've made my decision based purely on that point.

His name and the interest (and therefore commercial income) that it generates is an added bonus.
I can see him ending his playing career here and then taking up a staff or possibly ambassadorial role for the club. Like him or loath him his name is known world wide and any publicity is good publicity.

put it another way, would you have had barmby or stones back at the equiv of £150,000 a week (far more than another other player) when they were at the end of their careers/past it

None of them had or will have as much success as Rooney. A 60/70 % Rooney is still much better than them.

To be fair, Barmby didn't go on to achieve what Rooney did, so re-signing him wouldn't compare to resigning Rooney who's won everything there is in terms of club football and is still better than any current alternative in the squad. As for Stone, surely we'd have to wait and see how good he turns out to be. If he's a Barmby-standard player, Hell no.

This!

Yes 500k in the casino great pr !

Its his money to do what he likes with. In fact for the last 12 months Rooney has accepted his bit part role at OT without complaint and with great professionalism, always doing his best when required, and scoring some important goals. The lad has learned a lot about life since he scored his first goal against Arsenal, and depending on the deal, a season with another season option would be fine with me. Koeman has proved he will not abide players who don't work for the team, and Rooney is still an excellent team player. Also, Everton would be his only chance of getting back in the England frame, and might even help a few others get recognition. If we are to become a 'Top team' and have the right sort of reputation worldwide,we need star internationals in our ranks.
So...I'm 70/30 in favour of Rooney coming to Everton.

Wayne Rooney is a very classy footballer. Man Utd are expected to win the league, because of Sir Alex Ferguson, and when they don't, people think Wayne Rooney is playing badly. Wayne Rooney has more passing ability, shooting ability, team-work ability than any current Everton player. He could play behind Lukaku, and if he stayed fit, he could fire us into the champions league. The glory of Wayne Rooney returning is absolutely fascinating. Even if he only started 20 games next season, he would make our team so glorious.

There would also be the fans at the match to take into account, we already have a lot of boo's at times but if Rooney was on the pitch there would be a lot of fans that would never stop booing him, every touch would be met with serious discontent, we should swerve this fella
