to hell with bigger names. to improve, we need better players.

you could probably field an entire starting XI, each of whom certain to contribute more than Rooney over the next five years, with the wages that he alone now commands.

We wont be giving him a 5 year contract.

No, absolutely not, but it's nailed on and has been probably wrapped up for months.

And I say no in the full awareness he probably can offer something still, but not enough to justify his wages and the terrible message it sends as PR that we are prepared to overpay for players who are past it; like a Premier League version of the MLS.

Wayne Rooney is a very classy footballer. Man Utd are expected to win the league, because of Sir Alex Ferguson, and when they don't, people think Wayne Rooney is playing badly. Wayne Rooney has more passing ability, shooting ability, team-work ability than any current Everton player. He could play behind Lukaku, and if he stayed fit, he could fire us into the champions league. The glory of Wayne Rooney returning is absolutely fascinating. Even if he only started 20 games next season, he would make our team so glorious.

@carlos21 send him to bed c dawg

This should be a public vote for later vaulting. I've already said I'd rather we don't sign him. I know I'm still bitter about him leaving, I don't want him giving us the dregs of his career. We don't owe him any favours.

He's not been the player he was for a long time now and while, yeah, he could maybe add something to us on the pitch he could just as easily sign a massive contract and get crocked. He will be 32 not long after any deal he signs and has already shown that he's losing what he had.

I'm against it but I think this deal has been inevitable since January. Just get it over with and put me through some short term misery and hopefully he makes me look silly and scores loads of goals.

Still better than 99% of the current squad

We're in Europe next year - we need a squad, not just 11 players

Will be a boss influence on the younger lads (Davies, etc)

We might finally have someone who tuns up at Anfield (imagine it)

It's a yes from me as long as he's not an undroppable who stinks the place out everyweek. He needs to be managed properly

I utterly despise this odious fat traitor. If this is the height of our ambition then this 'project' is dead in the water. The sight of fellow Evertonians happily bending over to get done again by this played out shrekalike is dispiriting.
Once a traitor always a traitor.

lol we should be grateful to take an over the hill has been back and have the pleasure of paying him upwards of 150k week

K den

We shouldn't be grateful.

We also shouldn't dismiss that he has qualities that we could use throughout a 50 game season.

But for how much money and for how much longer can he do it? Those are the questions that concern me.

Life is a negotiation, if I had my way, no way and personally will never warm to him or respect him in anyway.

Pragmatically I can see the sense it commercially. That's how I view it without any emotion beyond a grudging disregard. I'll never have any respect for him or ever forgive him.

More a business transaction then a transfer, I'm more excited by signing the Southampton reserve right back,

So I don't want it, but I can live it.
