Yakubu, came back from injury and never seemed to play regularly for us again, seem to remember selling him and him banging them in for a few more years.
Other obvious ones are the youngsters in the past 5 years that never got a chance, Dowell, Ledson, Walsh, Bangingme, Vlasic and Lookman.

best striker we probably had post Sharp. Genius level finisher.. but didn’t run to the corner flag to Moyes seemed to marginalise him.. never made any sense.

Neil Moore

Centre back around the Kendall MKII/Walker era.

Decent in the air and pretty good on the ball for the time. Remember him playing very well in his debut at home at Ipswich when we won 3-0. Only played 3 more times after that and never broke through before making a fairly solid lower league career for himself.

Allegedly he was too nice and laid back to make it at the top level but had all the ability to do so.

Him and Billy Kenny, what could have been (for totally different reasons.)

Haven't read the thread yet but first one that springs to mind is Limpar.

Royle never really liked starting him and Kanchelskis together and he frequently came from the bench to great effect.

He did drift in and out of games somewhat and i think he frustrated Big Joe at times but every single game he did at least one thing that was so sublime it was worth the entrance fee alone.

Lovely player, he'll still go down in folklore for the Wimbledon game anf heroics on the way to win the cup in 1995.

Literally thought he was gonna be a class player, didn't have a bad career but nothing like it could of been, got a signed photo of him scoring against the RS
That goal against the RS..... I thought he was was going to be class. I'm sure it was round the time that lot had Owen and Fowler

After reading a few of the suggestions...Vaughan,cadamarteri, Rooney and jeffers (could even put anichebe and branch in there) it just shows how crap our current youth to first team structure is for Strikers these days, simms is 20 and never made a first team appearance for us!

Don't think it's just us, young players just don't seem to get a chance these days. Too much pressure for results

How many times have you seen a player sold only to be bought back for mega money in a couple of years once whoever they land at allows them to breakthrough

Happens so much these days
