I think there's no harm , and its entirely possible, to gracefully manage Jags, and tell him that he has to compete for a place, that he's a senior player, with a lot to offer, but he can't be club captain any more because of the uncertainty of his starting position. The problem is we didn't get solid performances from Holgate, Keane or Funes Mori (obvz due to injury/form)
/. Holgate, Mori, Keane, Williams, Jags, Connolly - 2 out of them have to go, and either we take a big risk on Funes Mori + Keane or Holgate as the first choice, or get someone else in. Connolly (Loan) and Williams leave

Coleman has to be skipper! Pickford vice captain.

Connolly isnt a centre back...

I guarrantee you that Keane beats all of them in a race. Unfortunately that doesn't translate to on field success.

Jags reactions are slow, he's easily pushed around, he cannot play a ball well enough at this point to play in Silva's build from the back 4 tactic. He was really good at one point, but there is simply a time to go. Now is it. New captain, new attitude.

Surely Holgate is the fastest by a mile...

Echo 27 October 2014 Everton FC defender Phil Jagielka is the fastest player in the Premier League
No player has been quicker in 2014/15 than the Blues captain, who has recorded speeds up to nearly 24mph

Let's have a run off...Holgate, Keane and Jagielka, and put Bolasie in it too.

DCL is pretty rapid, id say he and Holgate would be the fastest.. depends on the distance though...walcott 3rd place.

Reckon we'll extend his contract?
I would imagine so, only fair that the senior pro's get a few years under a new progressive manager to show their worth. Captain Jags, Wazza, Bainesy, Morgs and Stek need to stay and lead us to glory. The experience will be invaluable for our future blues stars such as Pennington, Browning, Tarashaj and McAleny.
