So Jags is the current Club Captain for the 2017/2018 season (lets see how long that lasts). Lets hope Jags will win us a trophy this season.

He finished last season quite strong with consecutive goals against Man Utd, Leicester and Burnley and in the process becoming the first Everton defender in history to score from open play in 3 consecutive league matches. I think we were all shocked by this.

I'm sure he is looking forward to playing alongside Michael Keane in Defence this season which could turn out to be a very effective partnership, however Jagielka will need to work hard in order to keep his place in team especially with Ashley Williams breathing down his neck and if rumours are to be believed the potential arrival of a new centre half being signed before the window closes.

Jagielka has recently been linked with a move back to Sheffield Utd and in the past has admitted his future is uncertain. He is about to turn 35 years old, so he is no spring chicken but neither was Wes Morgan when he captained Leicester to the Premier League title. If Jags can find inspiration from somewhere to bag us a trophy this season it would be a fantastic story to cap off his Everton career given that he missed out on playing in the FA CUP Final in 2009 due to injury.

Jags is now entering the last year of his contract, it is unlikely to be renewed unless he has a stormer of a season. Jagielka recently said that he is excited about the new season and is looking forward to playing European football again. He recently commented on Wayne Rooney's return to Everton stating that it has created a "buzz" in the squad. Jags certainly seems to be in no mood to give up his place in the first team and it sounds like he is prepared to put in the hard work.

10 years ago Jagielka scored his first everton goal in a match against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup. On Thursday night, Everton will play Ruzomberok in the Third Round Qualifier of the Europa League. Hopefully, Jagielka will be lead us to victory and begin what will hopefully be a successful and memorable season for us.

If possible, could someone put this photo in the banner?
