2017/18 Phil Jagielka

I don't think buying 3 first team defenders is, not when our squad is too big already, and we have other positions that need filling, is. If you do then fair enough, but we still need backups and squad fillers.

A) What has how much money they've got got to do with feelings?
B) It's not about the money anyway. He's been a major part of our club for ~10 years. I'm not opposed to getting rid of him necessarily, but there's a correct way to go about doing things, and we should always stick to that, no matter our financial situation.

We've got an entire squad of backups and squad fillers, we need players to instantly improve our side. We needed a new defence last summer and we neglected it, look how that turned out.

36 year old Everton captain Phil Jagielka is to take leisurely summer jaunt around Russia. Philip said: "I might get a swim in and a few miles on the mountain bike to keep in shape for the upcoming season".

Great to see the new regime means business.
Phil knows that by putting in the minutes now he'll continue to have the likes of Salah, Aguero and co in his pocket next season. A true captain in every sense of the word, Philip Nikodem Jajelka sleeps safely at night knowing that club captain's armband will firmly be wrapped around his bicep for seasons to come.

To be fair he'll come on as a sub when we're 3-0 against some rubbish League Two team in the third round of the FA Cup next season, and loads of fans will claim he's still "got it" and can still "do a job". Probably same fans who like Bolasie cos he has a good "attitude".
