2018/19 Phil Jagielka

That is down to the manager / coaches rather than him, though how several of them have prefered Keane/Jagielka to Keane/Holgate is something that is unfathomable.

Totally agree, although Holgate was rather inconsistent last season, but then again the whole team were ..........rather inconsistent.

I think it’s an obvious yellow and a free kick. Follow throughs happen sometimes when you win the ball. Never a red for me. Silva needs to get these new CB’s integrated immediately

He won the ball. Was a joke of decision and never a red card. Simple as that. Even the contact after that wasn’t as bad as people are making. He wasn’t even high. It’s a contact sport ffs. Then you have bloody Peter Walton who was a garbage ref saying it was a ref just because he was stretching for it. What a joke!

Don't know about that, watch it again in slow motion, the lads ankle bends like the letter S.

You don't have to nail someone to get a red. If the ref believes you've been reckless enough to risk injuring an opponent then there's every chance a red is gonna show. The fact it's a contact sport doesn't mean your studs should be hitting someone's ankle.

I reckon it was a yellow but I'd have been screaming for a red if it was on an Everton player.

If you slow motion most tackles there will be some moment the leg/ankle/knee etc won't look great....depends on the point you want to make

Pff bit over the top Timothy

If it was a red for denying a clear goal opp then it was a mistake and an odd decision as he gets the ball and where the ball travels after the challenge should have made it clear. Apparently the ref also didnt spot that they moved the ball forward 5yrds.

If it was a red for dangerous play then I personally think its understandable and touching the ball is not enough to rule it out as you seem to be suggesting here. I thought it was a bit reckless, he didnt look in control and it looked the sort of challenge that couldve snapped his ankle.

Yep. Pretty much why I thought it was a red. He almost snapped the lad's leg. If that happened in the middle of the field, it still would/should have been a red.

I think some lads are missing the point though, whether right or wrong it was classed as 'serious play' according to the rules. Jags loses control of the ball, he's over stretching while lunging in to make the tackle, and is classed as not to be in control, that's why it doesn't matter whether he won the ball or not.

Reckless my arsehole, its a perfectly executed tackle.

Id say calling that perfect makes you look more like the one with an agenda Tim.

I flinched when he went in and expected the worst. From the first replay I assumed it was a red for a reckless challenge.

I don't agree. I've saw it countless times and I think he made a good firm challenge. He played all of the ball before the man. If you're correct that it's a red card then I don't like the way the game is going. Not one Wolves player expected a red card. Players aren't stupid.

Sentimentality will kill this club. Wasn’t a red for me (look at how the ball travelled) but he shouldn’t be starting at all.
