Persistent standing at aways is now costing us tickets

Next time I watch the match at the pub I'm going to stand about a metre from the screen and just sing and shout all game. I'm sure everyone else will understand.

its all very well saying we should be allowed to stand if we want, and there should be safe standing areas etc....but there isn't, so fans just need to suck it up. Reducing ticket allocation is the only way clubs are going to get fans to sit down. I prefer to stand, but its just tough sh1t. Now some people are not going to get tickets for the game which might stop them getting tickets for other games where tickets are allocated based on games attended

But in principal I agree. Clubs should look to see if safe standing can be brought back

I don't buy that to be honest mate, and even if it's the case there is no excuse. Just because you don't know the rules doesn't mean you can get away with not following them.
It looks like Goodison is being mostly strict about it. I know a number of City fans that were pissed off about it last week.

Exactly! Bring back safe standing!

How long will it take before some English clubs will understand that they kill football this way!

The differences between Germany and England are getting bigger and bigger...
Sure, England is about tradition and most of the times great football, but...
Germany is getting more and more about great football, great prices AND a great atmosphere.
And yes, it's my opinion that standing has a lot to do with atmosphere!

No, I'm not going to support a German club...:P
COYBB!

Regards, Tim.

two points if wigan fan kicked out of gp how do wigan know what he looks like.
teams should fit seats were you are strapped in till half-time then full-time that should sort them naughty fans.

Are you a seatbelt salesman drumming up business?

Read the letter, the Wigan fan had been warned in their place about standing as well, so they would have an idea of who is is, plus his details would be on file when buying tickets

If they made some of the lower Gwladys St, how many seats will go

how many tickets could then they sell.

Say if there were 5000 then all the persistant standers from all over the ground could be there as well

But that won't happen

I doubt you could get 1000 to remove themselves to a section of the lower Gwladys

More research needs to be done as to actual numbers

The sit down attitude on here is typical of a lot of our fans, especially the boring ****s who go to the aways. Before I get slated for this I would just like to provide my opinion on the sit down/stand up thing. I personally prefer standing but if the majority are sat and by standing up (when it's pointless)I am preventing others from seeing the game, I would sit down. Standing up just for the sake of it just pisses people off behind and ruins their experience.

However, from my experience at places like City away (lower tier), West Ham away, Sunderland in the cup last season, Villa away (lower tier), all the best atmospheres have been on those occasions. I think it's some sort of self confidence thing with our fans where unless everyone is stood up and merged in with eachother, people don't like to start off a chant that often. That's why there is always loads of atmosphere before the game underneath the stand and when we all stand during the game. It's great going to places like Upton Park because due to the view at the front, everyone has to stand anyway and it nearly always results in a better atmosphere.

The next point I would like to make is that for the majority of aways we must have some of the most boring ****s in our away section in the whole of England. The stand up/sit down is one thing, but to sit down slumped in your chair with no intention of getting behind the team and moaning at anyone who stands at any point just pisses me off. I reckon 8/9 times out of 10 the ones who start getting aggressive are the sit down crew. Sometimes you stand in anticipation of something happening and some old **** behind you starts tapping you on the shoulder to sit down  Why do they even bother going to the game?

What I want to know is what young kids and older people had to do years ago when it was all standing? Because i'm guessing they couldn't moan about the view back then so it seems a bit laughable now. Too many people these days love to go to the match, watch the game in silence and moan at every opportunity. I reckon they would have a better time watching it at home on tv.

I'm not suggesting we all start bouncing round at 0-3 like Villa would or all getting our shoes off and waving them above our heads like the Geordies. Just a bit of atmosphere would be good. That can be stood up or sat down but the main thing preventing a good atmosphere is mostly down to the sit down boring brigade who not only want to sit down in silence but jump at the chance of kicking off with everyone for getting in their way or daring to try and enjoy themselves.

Ha Ha brilliant post. Sums it up nicely.

Anyone attending a match should do whatever they want to support their team providing it's legal and doesn't affect others. Simples.
