I'm not suggesting we all start bouncing round at 0-3 like Villa would or all getting our shoes off and waving them above our heads like the Geordies. Just a bit of atmosphere would be good. That can be stood up or sat down but the main thing preventing a good atmosphere is mostly down to the sit down boring brigade who not only want to sit down in silence but jump at the chance of kicking off with everyone for getting in their way or daring to try and enjoy themselves.
I'm guess you've not reached puberty yet? Just that with that attitude to life you certainly wouldn't get far as an adult.
We live in a country of free will. If a bloke pays through the nose for a footy ticket he can do what the hell he wants within the law. Full stop. If he wants to sit down the whole match - who the hell are you to tell him otherwise?
And it is definitely his right to have a go if some uneducated idiot stands in front of him - or his grandard, or his kids - and stops their enjoyment of the game? Can you not understand that.
I tell you what I take plenty of joy in getting such people kicked out of grounds for standing up. I've probably done it half a dozen times at least. Every time I've been polite, friendly, jokey in the first couple of instances. The second I've had abuse or ignorance back I've had them warned and eventually thrown out if they persist.
Respect other people FFS!!!
That's usually the sit down nobheads who kick off and abuse people. .
Those poor people who musn't be able to see in their games. My heart goes out to them.
That's a rational comment and no mistake. You buy a ticket for a seat. A seat has a special place for your arse to park itself on. It's really not complicated.
Whoa - are you mocking the old and young that are not able to see if a load of ignorant t**** stand in front of them?
If you're a wannabe 'casual' who still thinks they're living in the 80's with their 'casual clobber' and thinks listening to oasis makes them the dogs bollocks and having a few lines of coke on the way to an away match and think if supporters don't stand it makes them sh*t fans then you need to just do one.
Theres a small minority of these in every fan base and you see them all on twitter, you're a proper embarrassment haha. Weapons
The sit down attitude on here is typical of a lot of our fans, especially the boring ****s who go to the aways. Before I get slated for this I would just like to provide my opinion on the sit down/stand up thing. I personally prefer standing but if the majority are sat and by standing up (when it's pointless)I am preventing others from seeing the game, I would sit down. Standing up just for the sake of it just pisses people off behind and ruins their experience.
However, from my experience at places like City away (lower tier), West Ham away, Sunderland in the cup last season, Villa away (lower tier), all the best atmospheres have been on those occasions. I think it's some sort of self confidence thing with our fans where unless everyone is stood up and merged in with eachother, people don't like to start off a chant that often. That's why there is always loads of atmosphere before the game underneath the stand and when we all stand during the game. It's great going to places like Upton Park because due to the view at the front, everyone has to stand anyway and it nearly always results in a better atmosphere.
The next point I would like to make is that for the majority of aways we must have some of the most boring ****s in our away section in the whole of England. The stand up/sit down is one thing, but to sit down slumped in your chair with no intention of getting behind the team and moaning at anyone who stands at any point just pisses me off. I reckon 8/9 times out of 10 the ones who start getting aggressive are the sit down crew. Sometimes you stand in anticipation of something happening and some old **** behind you starts tapping you on the shoulder to sit downWhy do they even bother going to the game?
What I want to know is what young kids and older people had to do years ago when it was all standing? Because i'm guessing they couldn't moan about the view back then so it seems a bit laughable now. Too many people these days love to go to the match, watch the game in silence and moan at every opportunity. I reckon they would have a better time watching it at home on tv.

That definitely doesn't apply to me if you were aiming it at me.
Prefer standing but don't mind sitting down
Like Oasis but don't listen to them before the match whilst snorting coke (don't do that either)
Don't go on twitter.
for what its worth I'd happily support safe standing (if it was possible) in the Lower Gladwys though I'm not sure it'd work in practice. I've been at the back of there when it gets going and everyone is standing - and for anyone less than 6ft I imagine they can't see a thing.

I know this is a long shot, but maybe it's because they want to watch the match ? F***ing crazy i know.
You mentioned that Newcastle fans always stand. Well Newcastle fans also like to dress up as superheroes or jump up and down topless with their manboobs wobbling everywhere. Should we do that too ?
