Bit of a hyperbole, I think Distin might push him for that.

I true believe in Osman's ability. Definitely he's one to have around. He has enough ability to be a true contender for a first team start and that fact adds competition for places.

I think he is also a reliable player. It's pretty predictable what to expect from his performances.

In a team that sometimes struggles to draw a string of consecutive passes Osman is always going to be a useful player. And he can score his share of goals also.

Probably our style doesn't fit his best abilities. We don't pass and move and this kind of style would suit a player of his built.

But on his day he brings order to our midfield.

agree on arteta. You could argue that he provided the least out of the starting 11. What did he do? He didn't attack or threaten anyone. He wasn't doing anything productive off the ball. He wasn't disrupting WHU or breaking up plays with tackles. He didn't have a high work rate like Scott Parker did. He added nothing other than the occaisional non-threatning pass in the midfield. Not for one second did a WHU supported need to say "oh [Poor language removed], Arteta has the ball"

Anyone who has been paying attention knows I've been riding on Arteta all season, and I think he was (relative to where we expect him to be) VERY poor against West Ham. However, for everyone who it saying he did NOTHING, that is unfair too.

Our goal was set up by him taking a long directional dribble from right to the left corner flag (assuming I'm remembering this right). This helped the WH D to break their normal shape and helped leave Coleman wide open.

I still think he should have been subbed for Yak at the 60th minute and I think it was the only good thing he did in the game, but if he really had done nothing, I don't think we'd have any points from that game at all...

The fans forum appointed saviour of this week is:

Mr L Osman. The winner receives a warm round of applause and encouragement for the first sixty minutes of the next game.

Come on lids, you'll all be reverting to calling him ****e soon enough. There are players who can dig us out of this and although I like Leon he won't, reasonable expectations and that.

Hahahahahaha. Edit your way out of that one. Dragged us right out of it last season.

Anyway, just a quick point on Osman. He seems to be everyones favourite scapegoat again, which is a shame, because despite being on a really poor run of form, is still a cracking little player, and really did contribute to us improving massively last season. He'll come good again.

Just like Tony Hibbert. I don't get why supporters are so quick to turn on hard working-players who have served the club for the whole of their playing careers.

He played well for a while but it was far from the catalyst lid. What do you think of him this season, playing centrally too?

Oh, and MONSTER.

Osman and Hibbert, two solid Evertonians who always give 100%. (and who always get grief)

Osman was a better player than Joe Cole according to Joe Cole, but Osman has never been capped for England despite some amazing performances.

And as Far as being too small for the Premier League, that's the attitude that holds back footballers at all levels and brings u athletes that are big, strong and can run quick, but can't pass or keep a football.

That's why England are rubbish and always will be.

If Osman had been any other nationality, he'd be an international no doubt.

Viva Osman

Viva Hibbert

If you like these, have a look at his goal again versus Larissa...

Hahhahahaaa. I was casually browsing some old threads and stumbled across it. You're not the only one with entry to the Vaults.

Osman's been pretty gash, as far as I can tell. I dont get much chance to actually watch us anymore though, so I can only go off what you all say. I just saw hese become a scapegoat again, which is a crying shame after what he did for us last season. As football fans, we have notoriously short memories. It makes me a bit annoyed when people cry that Osman is gash, when he obviously isn't, because he proved not even 5 months back that he's not. Just because he's going through a poor run of form, doesn't make him gash.

The embodiment of 'rise like a salmon, lad.' For me, this goal was the best of last season (we'll say in league play to avoid conflict with goals against Chelsea in the FA cup).

He was nowhere near as bad as people made out against Bolton. A little quiet in the first half but as soon as we started playing a bit he became more influential, knitting things together and joining in when needed. Given a run of games he'd be my partner for Fellaini in the middle of the park, all day long.

Even the Hibbert comparisons, which are meant to be complimentary, are way off. Osman is one of the best footballers we have, he always has been.

This,

His reverse pass set the first goal up how quickly everyone forgets. He isn't international class but he is a lot better player than most fans give him credit for. He doesn't have a thunderous shot but he is good at holding the ball when necessary and has good foot skills he just hasn't the body to be world class.

It's a shame he's never developed a 'bing' pass. If he had that ability to fire one hard into feet or angled between defenders he'd add a new dimension to his game, he has the vision and intelligence to use it.
