Saw the news and had to come post over here.

Solid servant to the club, but there is such a thing as retiring gracefully.

I look forward to welcoming him back as a coach.

Proud to say he was an Evertonian. Class act all the way and if any young, aspiring footballer wants to model their career and conduct around one current professional, they could do a lot, lot worse than one Phil Neville.

I wish him the very best in whatever his future endeavors and I for one will always be grateful that he pulled on that blue shirt for us and never, ever gave us less than 100%.

Shows the man that he wanted to leave the bench at man utd where he could of had many many more medals, money and great nights for the challange of what he was offered at Everton and first team football.

I thought up until his legs went around 18months ago he was a very good RB for us and also did a good job in CM when required. He's been an excellent captain, helping build a dressing room which I believe is head a shoulders above most.

Off the pitch he has been exempalary for Everton fc and who'd of thought the boy could take penalty's!!
He should of moved on end of last season really but with us not having funds to replace he's carried on but unfortunately looked very off the pace most of the season.

Good luck to him...I won't remember him badly at all.
Still think he's got a year left in the PL tank, maybe just towards the bottom teams.

I'm a fool for having a different opinion and knowing a poor player when I see one? Grow up you divie.

No fitzy you adorable rapscallion you-
you're a fool for not recognizing that this might not be the right thread to talk exclusively about how poor he is.
having different opinions is healthy, else this place would be boring, but responding to our captain's retirement in such a vitriolic way-- well, i think its fair to call you a fool.
Hey if you don't like it just consider it my different opinion.

Nev is & always has been ****e, good riddance.
I'll repeat what I said in a previous nev thread, I was embarrassed when we signed him & I'm embarrassed every time he plays for us.

Why isn't it the place? I've waited 8 years for it, having to watch him try to play football was torture. I couldn't care less if he is captain or was a good pro, all I care about was how he performed on the pitch. Plus he used to have a dig at the fans at every available opportunity right up to Bolton a few weeks ago. So I am within my write to say it in this thread or any thread I like.

That's what forums are for and if you read back I havent had a go at anyone for having a different opinion than me thats what footy is all about.

Just something that dawned on me, he hasn't been offered a coaching role.
