Why isn't it the place? I've waited 8 years for it, having to watch him try to play football was torture. I couldn't care less if he is captain or was a good pro, all I care about was how he performed on the pitch. Plus he used to have a dig at the fans at every available opportunity right up to Bolton a few weeks ago. So I am within my write to say it in this thread or any thread I like.

That's what forums are for and if you read back I havent had a go at anyone for having a different opinion than me thats what footy is all about.

To be fair... If he was that bad a player, playing 500+ games in the top flight of English football and 60 international caps, he must have been doing something right.

Pure "luck" I suppose

Examples or it didn't happen

Again, the reaction of certain posters in here has been completely OTT...

He was limited as a footballer, we all accept this, but [Poor language removed] me you're making it sound like he was Sunday League player and his influence on/off the pitch was totally negative or non-existent..

Chips. On. Shoulders. You sound right miserable.

I'm a fool for having a different opinion and knowing a poor player when I see one? Grow up you divie.

Due to my great age, I have acquired the skill to recognise a fool when I see one, while you have yet to acquire the experience to recognise a decent footballer, not a great one, but good enough to get 50 odd caps for his country and play at the top league in the world until his mid thirties.Phils time is up now, more or less, but we had at least six decent years out of him, and his tackle on Ronaldo actually changed our season...just one example of his ability to galvanise the team around him.
But you resort to pettyness, and disguise it as 'opinion'.

I am the petty one yet it's you calling me a fool. My Dad is 56 and he thinks Neville is ****. Does that mean he isn't old enough to make a judgement? Age doesn't even come into it, my 15 week old son could watch Neville play and see he isn't good enough, not just now always.

You don't agree with me which is fine but let's leave the insults out of it hey. There are probably players in the past I thought were good that you never. It's what happens. What I do know is every match going blue I know wether it be mate or work colleague don't rate Neville and never have and just because he played for my team does not mean I have to think he is good.

Oh and look at our results immediately after Nevilles tackle, that did not change our season, it was a good tackle made better by Ronaldos reaction.

In a similar fashion others are make it sound like he led us like he was captain spears out of band of brothers, in reality for me he comes across as a hard working yes man. Far too much of the managers son syndrome in junior footy, when he gets the armband, a captain should be a good enough player to be able to bollock others, imagine him having a pop at felli or arteta, you'd tell him to do one

A complete myth, we were gash after that game until moyes moved Arteta to the centre, that's what changed our season

Emile Heskey played for Liverpool and went to two European Championships and two World Cups during a 62 cap England career. I'm still quite certain he was crap.

He made a contribution, I think even he realises its time to move on, he isn't wholly deserving of the criticism being levelled at him though. You didn't like him, fine. You thought he was ****, fine. For better or worse he was here for quite some time and did do some good for the club. Not always, even his most vocal supporters (if there are some) will admit. Not sure if anybody needs reminding how **** people think he is.

There was a noticable increase in pace and it was the first time really in the season, apart from when we score you could really hear the crowd get behind the team. Made a lot of difference metnally but the Artea change was the tactical one that combined to make it happen. We were a different side with a different set of supporters after than challenge.

In that game maybe, our season didn't change the right tactical moves were made and arteta was then good enough to make Neville acceptable in midfield, arteta completely ran that team till his injury, he deserves far more credit

You sir, are correct, but I would hasten to add that Neville was Arteta's central midfield partner through his best run of form and played damn well, he was an important cog that season was Neville and no mistake.

I'd say Arteta was that good that year, his partner had a easy job, but yeah I guess he deserves credit for playing alongside him.

Just been looking at the photos from the open training session at Goodison today and Neville isn't in a single one so seems like he wasn't there. Has he been shunted off to the reserves for the rest of the season?
