In that game maybe, our season didn't change the right tactical moves were made and arteta was then good enough to make Neville acceptable in midfield, arteta completely ran that team till his injury, he deserves far more credit

No one is taking credit away from Arteta, but I think you underestimate how much that challenge shifted things, almost immediately our players had more bite and lifted themselves, found some belief we hadn't had all season and you could feel a shift in the stands.
First time there was proper applause followed by a couple of songs that didn't stop after the first line..
To sum it up that season... Neville lifted us.. Arteta carried us.

Emile Heskey played for Liverpool and went to two European Championships and two World Cups during a 62 cap England career. I'm still quite certain he was crap.

But still of a premier league standard of crap.

Lets not kid ourselves. Playing 500 games in the top tier of English football must mean you are half decent at your job.

Yeah, but when you say a player's crap, you mean compared to other Premier League players.

I'm sure Steven Naismith would dominate in the conference or Sunday league.

Actually, no. Not him.

he deserves a good sending off..just give him a red card :o naa brilliant captain for us and he did alot behind the scenes too, alot of our younger players looked up to him

Good example to follow. Wasnt a good player but sometimes we missed his kick up the arse attitude in games . Lets hope this opens up to a new centre mid in the summer

Thought he has been a great servant to the club, especially in his first number of years at the club. He was able to put in a good solid preformance in a number of different positions which was very useful when injuries and suspensions mounted up. Best of luck for the future Phil.

Just been looking at the photos from the open training session at Goodison today and Neville isn't in a single one so seems like he wasn't there. Has he been shunted off to the reserves for the rest of the season?

He tweeted this morning about doing some fitness regime, think there were reports he had a knee problem so maybe thats why he wasn't there

SKY SPORTS SET TO SIGN PHIL NEVILLE

SKY Sports are set to swoop to sign Everton star Phil Neville at the end of the season, the Daily Star Sunday can reveal.

Producers are desperate to team him up with his brother, former Man United star Gary, on their line-up of pundits. And they are preparing a big-money deal to tempt him.

Phil, 36, announced last week that he would leave the Premier League club at the end of the season.

A source at Sky said: “The bosses took a risk when they signed Gary but he’s turned out to be one of the most popular pundits on TV.”

Sources close to Phil say he has been inundated with offers from other clubs.

But a pal said: “Punditry is certainly something that is of interest to him.

“He and Gary are very close but they often have very different opinions so it could make for some great discussions.”

Moyes confirmed: "Phil is at a time now where I am not sure he would play all the games for us. He has a little bit of a problem with a knee injury that he has to look after as well and that was reflected in our conversations. Phil has decided to continue playing and I am delighted for him. I think it's what he should do. I look at Davie Weir. I let Davie Weir go at a similar age and he went on to play for five more years [at Rangers] and play in a European final. I just think this is the right time for Everton.

"It was Phil who came more to the conclusion. He knows. If he wants to be part of my staff here he is more than welcome, he really is. He has been a big, powerful influence here for eight years and a big help to me in my job."
