I love Bramley Moore. Love the docklands around it. The views and angles inside the ground are incredible. I’m starting to get a new routine (although the KO times have made that difficult), and I’m lucky that the group around me (in upper North) are sound - have a shout, have a sing, all friendly, a much better crew than I was by in Goodison.
My routine now involves getting in the ground half an hour earlier than I did at Goodison, but that’s fine.
Getting away is a bit of a pain, for sure. I walk back to town, which is fine for me, but for those who would struggle with that walk, the club and the council need to sort out the transportation, or else those people will stop renewing. It’s added an hour to my match day, which won’t be for everyone.
Much is said about the atmosphere, but there’s been a couple of games where it’s been great, and we haven’t yet had a game where the atmosphere will light up - a “0-2 down at half time, and score a winner in injury time” game. It will happen.
I also loved Goodison, but let’s not kid ourselves that it was a fiery, bear pit every week. It was silent and miserable 70% of the time. We remember the derby wins, or the 3-2s against Palace, but they were few and far between.
Once the new ground has a decade of games in it’s pocket, and some of those 3-2-type memories in its history, we won’t look back.
